I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience working with adolescent teens, families, and young adults.
For parents and students alike, adolescence can be a turbulent time. Watching our children struggle can be stressful. It takes a lot of patience, understanding and adjusting to meet the needs of kids in this age group. It's not uncommon for parents to feel that they are engaging in one power struggle after the next...or perhaps feeling a sense of guilt, frustration or helplessness, as they start to question the effectiveness of their parenting and/or the overall emotional well-being of their son or daughter.

My ideal client is any adolescent , young adult, or couple that is willing to seek assistance, grow, and develop new strategies to address concerns they may be having with depression, anxiety, communication, addictions, or other adjustment they are struggling with that they need assistance. In working with clients it is important that a relationship is established where the client feels comfortable, safe, and secure. After a relationship is formed it is my goal to help guide the client/couple/family in developing strategies by challenging them using different therapeutic modalities that work best with their identified goals.

Over the past 10 years, I have treated children, adolescent girls, families and adults in inpatient, outpatient, and private practice settings.
Counseling research studies consistently state that one of the biggest factors for growth and healing are strongly connected to the relationship between you and your therapist. I take a compassionate and collaborative approach with my clients as we work through the life struggles and circumstances while drawing upon your unique strengths with multi-faceted, evidence-based practices. I firmly believe that we do the best we can even when we don't do or act how we wish. My relationship with clients is one of trust, collaboration and building insights and skills that lead to new, life-enhancing experiences.

I work with child, adolescent , and adult clients and have specialized experience supporting preschool-aged clients and their families.
My ideal client is anyone willing to come to counseling and be open to the process! Regardless of where a client may be starting from or what they’re hoping to accomplish, I believe that anyone who is willing to show up and engage in the therapeutic process can benefit, and I am happy to guide and support them on their journey. I believe I would be an especially good fit for those clients who want to learn more about themselves and the “why” behind their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors; hope to develop a deeper, more genuine connection with themselves and others; and can appreciate some gentle challenging when appropriate.

I am a Filipino American Therapist, who is not Filipino enough to be acknowledged by my own family as Filipino due to being born in America; and I'm not American enough to be acknowledged by Americans due to not being white. This identification and acknowledgment in my life have provided me a unique perspective and opportunity to help those I work with to manage the conditioned beliefs of perfectionism, and toxic family dynamics, religious traumas and heal from the experienced childhood trauma. I provide culturally sensitive therapy for Asian Americans who struggle with shame, guilt, and perfectionism to heal, grow and thrive.

I work with clients to help them live their valued life using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness skills. Change is constant and is part of life. With change comes stress and anxiety. Rather than simply reacting, which leads to a spiral of further stress and anxiety, I teach my clients coping tools so they are able to respond in a way that is productive and in their control, minimizing stress and anxiety. I also work with clients struggling with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) like postpartum depression and anxiety. In addition, I am also trained as a Cognitive Behavior Therapist for Insomnia (CBT-I).

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is integral to positive therapeutic outcomes. I enjoy helping clients discover their own creative potential in addressing the life issues they face, so I tailor therapy to suit each person's distinctive needs and desired well-being. I am interested in serving children and parents: for over a decade, I have worked with hundreds of children and parents in the field of music, and the understanding I have gained through this work greatly enriches the therapeutic process. In particular, opportunities to work with very young children have given me valuable perspectives on developmental, familial, and parenting issues.

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
