I believe that healing relationships, with others and with one's self, is the core ingredient for change in therapy. I feel that the optimal therapeutic approach with any person must be tailored to the needs of the particular individual and/or client system. Therapy should be approachable and create an environment of acceptance and self-love. In understanding human behavior, it is not so much about "good" or "bad" behavior, but trying to understand why we do what we do and to make sure our behaviors are constructive for ourselves and the relationships important to us.

I view therapy as a valuable opportunity for individuals, couples and families to dedicate time to personal and relational growth. I especially pride myself in my work with parents and couples! As a warm and collaborative therapist, I encourage clients to adopt a holistic perspective and recognize potential areas for positive change. I strongly believe that genuine transformation occurs when individuals nurture hope and draw upon their inherent strengths. From a young age, I've always wanted to help people who are in need, showing them the light at the end of the tunnel when their world feels so dark.

Marriage Whisperer! That's what a recent couple called me after one of our sessions. The reality is that I've been fortunate to be trained by Harville Hendrix, an expert in the field of couple's therapy and the founder of Imago Relationship Therapy. Imago therapy is a state-of-the-art system that gives couples of all kinds, the knowledge, and most importantly, the TOOLS to help each other give and receive the love they want. I work with couples both in my office, and in the weekend "Getting the Love You Want" workshops.

People often search for a therapist when they feel like they've tried everything and it's just not working well enough. It can be hard to see a situation clearly when you've been immersed in it for so long. I help people to take a step back, so they can see things more objectively. Through psychotherapy, people can find internal strength and resources they didn't know were there. They can then start to see new perspectives, both of themselves and their situations, and can begin to make changes.

The foundation of successful change is a willingness to see things clearly - to be honest with ourselves about our thoughts, feelings, and intentions. In order to do this, we need both courage and compassion that come from the heart. I believe therapy is about opening our eyes to our emotional needs and the patterns we've developed to get those needs met. We examine what is and isn't working, with compassion and understanding that all feelings and behaviors serve a purpose.
I apply the same approach when working with couples to dig beneath common conflicts and explore the deeper emotions, needs, and hopes for the relationship.

Is your anxiety preventing you (or your child) from being who you (or they) want to be? Wish you or your child could just get over it? If it was only that simple. Sometimes we just need someone who can give us the tools to not be crippled with anxiety. Anxiety is a necessary part of life, but shouldn't interfere. You're not looking for someone to just talk to on an ongoing basis; that's what your friends and family are for (and you don't need to pay them!) I'm going to help you get in and out of my office feeling "cured" as quickly as we can so that you can save money and be who you want to be.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
