My name is Jenna, and I provide online therapy to women who are WAY over the crap and ready to unpack that baggage and put it away.
You've been through some Crap with a capital C (hello, trauma and anxiety!). That's nothing new; you've done it all your life and you know you're pretty damn resilient to have gotten to where you are in spite of it. But somewhere along the way, you stopped dealing so well and now get to look forward to constant slow burn anxiety, self-doubt, and a general malaise that has you running on empty, with no energy to do things you used to love. You’re tired of past and present problems dominating your life. You're not sure what "better" even looks like, but you know you want to get there and just need to figure out HOW.

Life is made up of shaping experiences. Some of those events shape us for the better and other incidents leave scars that are hard to walk away from. As you consider whether counseling is for you, my hope would be that you know that you matter and deserve to be cared for. You do not have to face those experiences alone. I am passionate about working with autistic adults and their partners, people recovering from drug, gambling and food addictions, also people in the LGBTQIA+ community and women exploring issues related to gender.
Everyone needs help sometimes. Life comes with challenges and finding support is important in order to face them, especially when the challenges feel like more than we can handle on our own. I truly believe that every person has the strength they need to face these challenges with the right support in place. I am here to offer whatever support is needed: a safe place to freely speak your mind without judgment, a chance to be understood, an ally to look at situations and options, a companion to offer new ideas and perspectives.

Hello! I’m Dennise and I LOVE therapy newbies. It’s because working with women reaching out for help for the first time is my absolute specialty. I know exactly how this woman is feeling (very vulnerable, very nervous, and very scared) and how brave she doesn’t know she is just yet. Brave and strong, for sticking out her feelings and then deciding to create lasting change in her life. But, whether it’s your first session or your fifteenth, I can help you unpack the hurt or hard feelings you’ve been holding onto for probably way to long, find confidence to speak your mind in all of your relationships, and cope with the thoughts that

Congratulations, you have made the first and most important step in helping yourself reach your goals. I believe psychotherapy is truly a process, one which the therapist can help guide a client to make the changes they need for positive change. My 15+ years of experience working with teens, young adults, adults and families allows for me to treat the whole person and not just the symptoms. As all clients have differing needs, it is crucial for you to find the right therapist, the one with whom you feel a comfort and who might best help you succeed.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
