In my work, I like to combine short-term approaches that will help you figure out how to feel better now with long-term approaches designed to take a closer look at some repeating patterns and their origins to bring lasting changes to your life. Most clients I see in my practice experience some sort of dissatisfaction in their relationships. This could significantly impact their life satisfaction. Whether it is a relationship with a romantic partner, parent, friend or boss, there are always ways to make changes in order to bring more happiness into your life however challenging this task might be.

People often come to therapy seeking strength and motivation to improve their lives and simply to feel better. I will work with you to discover and connect with what motivates you in a warm and practical atmosphere that supports self-acceptance, growth and confidence in your own unique abilities. A strong connection with self (values, boundaries, strengths, wants and needs) is the foundation for our meaningful connections with others. Trauma, life transitions, and the general messiness of life can sometimes require us to re-connect with self in a new way. I believe talk therapy can provide the space to create new connections.

All of us experience the feeling of being stuck in some way, perhaps frustrated by challenging life circumstances, discouraged by unfulfilling relationships or just generally stirred up by the vague sense that something is just not working. Through the course of my experience, I have come to believe deeply in the power of the therapeutic relationship and the way in which a collaboration with a thoughtful, compassionate and dedicated therapist can be the catalyst for real change.

The past two years have been difficult and confusing. Sorting out new priorities can be confusing, and may be a source of stress for you and possibly your partner as well. An outside perspective can help with solutions. I specialize in relationships and stress management ( they sometimes go together!). Cognitive therapy plus the Gottman method of couple therapy will help you remember why you fell in love. Life doesn't have to be so hard!

Immediate Evening Availability! Connection has been a continuous theme in my life. Becoming a therapist was an easy choice - it reflects a core part of me that enjoys getting to know people at a real level. I've particularly enjoyed my work with depression, anxiety and self esteem; relationship and family conflict; and LGBTQ+ and intimacy. While my clients have shared they enjoy my keen observations, reflective nature, and sometimes challenging enquiries, they also appreciate my light heartedness and positive energy. I work to provide a safe, nonjudgemental environment and view YOU as the expert in your own life.

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
