Male Therapists in Oak Park, IL
I start with a thorough assessment of your current concerns. I take a broad-minded, non-judgmental approach to understanding what you are looking for help with. I try to be helpful by offering feedback and new perspectives and insights. I understand that you have probably already attempted several ways to address your concerns and by now you are most likely frustrated and worried. I will take a proactive and positive approach to your participation by helping you identify your personal strengths and assets that you can then use to develop a new and better response to your concerns.

I can help you explore in-depth understanding and insight, or develop strategies to cope with stress and change. I work with adults with depression, anxiety and panic, career and relationship issues, ADHD, bipolar disorder, stress management, grief, and traumatic stress.

For over a decade, I have been working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I specialize in working with those who are struggling with shame and frustration for things over which they feel powerless. For things they've done, for things done to them, for opportunities lost, and for feeling as if they have little control over how to make things better. If you're tired of feeling stuck and ready for help, I'd like to help you get where you want to go. Issues related to sex, anger, and control are areas in which I specialize.

I believe that times of crisis can also be times of transition and development. As a therapist, I strive to help clients put family and individual crises in the proper perspective, so they can begin to mobilize their own resources for change. Acceptance and insight into oneself and one's situation are powerful tools that therapy can enhance, both for adults and children of all ages. I have years of therapy experience helping clients cope with painful and difficult situations, including addiction/compulsions, damaged relationships, bereavement/loss, and abuse. The first session can be a powerful and positive step.

As a clinician and diagnostician, I prioritize rigorous standards of evaluation, all while maintaining my passion for equity. I have conducted comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations across various age groups and demographics, with extensive training in autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, and learning disability. I believe testing is a doorway to meaningful new strategies and opportunities, never a limit. While social media might make you think everything is wrong with you, assessment helps show where your skills and opportunities are, leading to a healthier, more empowered life.
