My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you feel comfortable and at ease. Building a trusting relationship is key. Within this accepting and empathic setting personal introspection and growth can take place. Whether you have been in therapy previously or are new to the journey, seeking therapy is not always easy. I understand that taking this first step can often be one of the biggest challenges. I will work with you in a partnership to identify what is currently working in your life and what may be holding you back.

I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, couples , and families.
We are all human. However, each individual is unique in their life experiences, personal needs, and individual goals. Therapy creates a safe place to have the past meet the present in order to find a greater understanding of our lives. Self-exploration can help provide greater insight, purpose, and healing in order to live a more productive and healthy life.

Does your life seem to be less fulfilling and you do not know why? Look no further. Your best life is waiting. I work to provide a safe space and collaborate with clients on finding their inner strengths to utilize them in building resiliency. I work to guide children ages four and older, adolescents, adults, couples , and first responders to reach their goals and experience a happier life. Given my experience working in emergency rooms, outpatient, residential and schools, I understand how the impact of these challenges can often leave people feeling unable to participate in life roles that lead to life satisfaction.

I recognize the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for positive change; my approach is client-centered, collaborative, and solution focused.
Life can be challenging, sometimes we don't know what is causing us to be uncomfortable; we just know that we are. Regardless of the reason, therapy can help you process feelings that cause pain or discomfort. I provide a safe space to identify the strengths that have brought you to this point in your life and help you learn how to use those strengths to work through some of the challenges. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, feelings of low self-worth or just trying to help everyday life feel a little easier.

I specialize in working with both individuals and couples .
I'm a warm, experienced therapist specializing in treating anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Most of us experience these feelings at one time or another. We may even talk to friends or family members. When friends and family members aren't able to help, though, it makes sense to seek out a trained professional. I use evidence-based, best practices to help you find relief as quickly as possible. Each session consists of a dialogue in which both of us participate. When clients finish treatment, it's not uncommon for them to express feeling safe, connected, understood and supported as they review our work together.

I believe in a person-centered approach. Together, we can explore life’s obstacles without judgment, learn new ways to balance the inner self and create a more harmonious relationship with the world around us. Currently, I support individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, grief, and adjustment difficulties. As a lover of learning and education, I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2013. Since then, I have committed to learning new counseling techniques and skills that help me support individuals from diverse backgrounds and those with unique life experiences.

Welcome, I specialize in working with anxiety, anger management, depression, couple counseling, and negotiating life transitions. (marriage, divorce, loss, career change) I have a directive, practical approach that balances understanding, with support, guidance and direction. There are many pathways to a happier and more fulfilling life. Deciding to change, taking the risk to meet a new therapist, isn't easy. In 40 plus years as a psychotherapist, I have found that with work and skilled support, individuals and couples can reach goals, change, improve and develop their solutions to their issues. Although you may feel blocked, our work together will help you find the path to a happier life that is right for you. The most difficult decision is to take the risk and try therapy.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
