Most people, sometime in their life, need help with a problem, emotions, a situation, or a sense of discomfort or struggle that has just gone on too long. Therapy can provide the help and support often needed to feel better about ourselves or our situation. I have extensive experience helping people become stronger and more resilient. My goal is to work in a partnership to jointly figure out what modalities, personal skills and experience can best help each individual resolve the problem(s) at hand

I love to work collaboratively to explore one’s personal experiences and identity to help facilitate healing and self-growth. I have experience working with clients who have struggled with a wide range of mental health disorders including PTSD, substance use, and positive identity formulation. In addition to art therapy interventions, I use other counseling techniques in an eclectic approach, integrating mindfulness, CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic theory. As an art therapist, I also identify as an artist. This provides my clients many opportunities to learn more about themselves while also learning art skills.

Building resiliency isn't always about overcoming the mountain sized obstacles. Sometimes, its about overcoming the desire to stay in bed all day, or have popcorn for dinner the fifth day in a row, or have just one more drink at the end of the day. Trauma, and its positive counter-part- Resiliency, is within each of us. Cultivating a positive support system and partnership is all about accessing the natural power you hold within yourself. Within each individual, and couple, embracing resiliency is possible. Learn more at www.resiliencyresourcesconsulting.com

I am here to assist others in their journey of healing. Life is wonderful but it can also give us a sense of insecurity and hardship. I have worked with many individuals providing mental health services in in-patient settings since 2015. I later started to work one-on-one with individuals with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, ADHD, martial issues, minority issues, first responders with family conflict, trauma and other issues that keep the individual from having an abundant life. I am here to provide you with knowledge and guidance on what your life can look like if you put faith in yourself

People inspire me... the way they meet the myriad challenges that life presents. Life can be difficult and most of the time we take it in stride and often retain our sense of humor in the midst of this difficulty. Sometimes, we are unable to do it alone. Taking the appropriate steps, you will persevere. Psychotherapy does work; further suffering is optional. Please call me for a free consultation: 708-271-2864.

Each of us encounters struggle in our lives: the essential element of my approach to psychotherapy involves the sharing of these struggles in a therapeutic relationship. Once this foundation has been laid, we progress toward mutually agreed upon goals. My patients often find that problems bringing them into therapy are connected to other parts of their lives. We work together to uncover these elements and open doors to greater satisfaction and self understanding.

We all feel sad, stressed, or anxious at times. That's a normal part of life to me. But if these feelings are interfering with personal and family relationships, work, or your feelings of self-confidence, counseling can help you find a more satisfying path. Especially since the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic, mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, and stress, have worsened. You may have increased your use of substances, hoping that they will help relieve your symptoms, only to find that they have made matters worse. Recognizing that you need outside assistance can be difficult.

We are all human. However, each individual is unique in their life experiences, personal needs, and individual goals. Therapy creates a safe place to have the past meet the present in order to find a greater understanding of our lives. Self-exploration can help provide greater insight, purpose, and healing in order to live a more productive and healthy life.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
