A positive and empathetic relationship between therapist and client is essential in resolving your mental health concerns. I work well with clients ready to change but who are also fearful of that change. I will be your biggest cheerleader but I will also challenge you to reframe anxious thinking, learn to deal with uncomfortable feelings, use EMDR to help move you through trauma, and finally help you to learn to accept yourself in a compassionate and healthy manner.

I believe that whether you're needing support with a current challenge, a past trauma, or navigating a life transition, you deserve a space that is welcoming and free of judgment. My goal as your therapist is to help you feel empowered and in control. I do not claim to be the expert on your life, and consider therapy a collaborative process where your voice matters. Common issues I address include coping and self-regulation skills, anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting support, self-esteem, safe expression of feelings, grief, psycho-education, safety planning, healthy relationships, boundaries, and pregnancy/postpartum support.

Family life can be where we feel loved and supported, or we feel confusion, overwhelm, and grief. Family life is already complicated, especially when it is impacted by trauma, neurodiveristy, or adoption and foster care, or some combination of all three. Subsequently, you can feel misunderstood, alone, and "othered" by friends and family. And I see you! I provide a safe and compassionate environment through the lens of relational neuroscience, specializing in the care for adults and parents impacted by trauma, neurodiversity, adoption, and foster care.

It can be daunting to seek outside help for something that might be deeply personal. But sometimes, life can overwhelm us, and we might decide that something is not working for us or that it’s time to pursue a change. In these moments, I want to walk with you through your struggles and help you find your way to healing and contentment. In the therapy process, I value the insight you bring about your life and experience, and the work we do together will be, first and foremost, a collaborative effort.

Have you tried everything to feel “normal” and still feel wounded, damaged, or out of control? If this is you, it’s time to step out of the solitary confinement of your mind and allow a healer to guide you. After all, being with a therapist is a relationship that can go beyond any other. For your therapist may know every secret and dark thought you've had, and hold trust that you've never gifted to anyone. When you ask for help, you’re expecting skills, processing, for "it" not to hurt so bad. Being gifted to heal people from their trauma creates a sense of owing the world my best effort at the work I love.

You had an affair. It's something you thought you'd never do, and now you're left in a state of pain and confusion. Why did I do that? How could I do it? What did it mean? What was I looking for? Or maybe it was your partner who had an affair, and now you're left in a state of deep hurt, anxiety, anger or disgust. How could this happen? How do we move on? How can I ever learn how to trust them again? Why me? The pain from infidelity can be very intense and doesn't easily dissipate. Trying to navigate the waters alone can feel even more unbearable, and you're looking for somebody to help keep you afloat.

My mission is to provide clients of all ages with a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can truly feel heard, respected, & empowered. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Certified EMDR Therapist, & Sandtray Therapist. I treat a variety of issues. I believe clients want a therapist who is genuine, compassionate, trustworthy, smart, & funny. They want a therapist who cares about them, wants to hear their story, supports them through the "hard" stuff, teaches them tools to solve problems on their own, celebrates their wins, & helps with accountablity when needed. If this sounds like you, let's talk.

I love working with children & adolescents. My approach helps reduce the sense of fear associated with past traumas. I love supporting parents as they work on co-regulation skills, which in turn supports the child in learning to independently regulate their emotions. I believe that people are strong, powerful, and capable on their own, and it is my job to help each client utilize their own inner strengths. My approach is especially helpful for guiding those struggling with addiction, as we will work together to figure out what is working and what is not. These individuals typically appreciate the realistic approach I take.

When choosing a therapist it is important to consider many different perspectives. First and most importantly, is this someone that you will be comfortable working with? Education and experience are other considerations? However, when it comes right down to it, it's about connecting. All the great tools that a therapist may have will be useless if you do not connect with them. I have heard from many of my clients about negative experiences in the past with therapists and how they feel like nothing really happened.

Every person has had to navigate difficult times, moments, moods, relationships, and countless other concerns. Many of us start to see patterns emerge in these situations, and realize that we have to be able to look gently and fearlessly inward to learn how to truly create changes and relief in how we handle these situations. Knowing it can be anything from mood to trauma to a complicated loss and life transition that creates difficulties we have to learn how to create space for what we are feeing and learn new ways to feel safe and strong. We have to start building a sense of our best selves to truly heal.
