My area of expertise is in working with women struggling with anxiety or OCD who are looking for tangible tools to help them learn how to better manage or cope. Perhaps you get caught up in the worries or what ifs, the worst-case scenarios, ruminating thoughts, or checking behaviors. You may tend to overthink things, anticipate events, or are uncomfortable with the unknowns. You might find yourself avoiding situations that make you feel nervous. Though you are not causing your own anxiety , you DO have the power to change it. In fact, through learning and with effort, research shows you have the capability of changing your brain.

I specialize in: trauma, depression, anxiety , grief, and PTSD; with hospice and military life experience.
A positive and empathetic relationship between therapist and client is essential in resolving your mental health concerns. I work well with clients ready to change but who are also fearful of that change. I will be your biggest cheerleader but I will also challenge you to reframe anxious thinking, learn to deal with uncomfortable feelings, use EMDR to help move you through trauma, and finally help you to learn to accept yourself in a compassionate and healthy manner.

You want a solution that will relieve anxiety and fear for the long term, not just temporarily.
Your anxiety is relentless and has taken over every aspect of your life. You’ve struggled with it for so long but nothing seems to be able to get it to go away. You try, oh, believe me, you try. Regardless of what you do, how many times you do it, or how long you do it, the anxiety persists. Your mind is a playground for anxiety provoking, distressing and sometimes obsessive thoughts that are uncomfortable and sometimes even makes you question you as a person. Who would have thoughts like this? Why can't I let this go? What makes me so afraid of this? One thing is for certain, it doesn't seem like ANYTHING really works.

"Think about what you can do right now, not what you had wish you would have done before." I am passionate about helping people overcome whatever obstacle that keeps them from living their life to the fullest. Throughout life we all experience difficulties that lead to us feeling alone, overwhelmed, and defeated. Despite our best efforts sometimes overcoming those life circumstances by ourselves can be unsuccessful. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have extensive experience working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety , depression, helplessness, and need additional tools to cope with daily stressors and overwhelming thoughts or feelings. In the fast-paced world we live in, we are constantly facing heightened feelings of stress that can be caused by workplace, parenting, family, couple or other relationship conflicts. Unfortunately, for many, alcohol or drugs is used to “manage” difficult times. It is my goal to help clients navigate their most complex feelings and to provide the tools and skills needed to help them thrive.

Anxiety Therapists
At the core of anxiety is a mistaken appraisal of danger in which threats are exaggerated, triggering an array of negative feelings that overwhelm patients and lead to avoidant behavior. Therapists take aim at the three big components of anxiety—worry, physical arousal or edginess, and avoidance—by teaching one or more well-researched programs of skills that are custom-tailored to patients’ own worst thoughts.
