I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma , transitions, relationship problems, and work difficulties.
Everyone hits a bump in the road from time to time. Maybe you're going through a difficult transition, such as the loss of a job or loved one. Maybe you worry too much...but can't seem to stop. Maybe you struggle with difficult relationships--or spend so much time caring for others that you've neglected yourself. Sometimes we just get stuck, and we aren't sure why. Sharing our concerns with a caring professional can help us find solutions, improve our sense of self and our relationships, provide safety and warmth, and help us find more meaning in our lives.

I believe we all have a story and our experiences and interactions with others throughout our lives shape that story. Whether the story is predominantly positive or negative, we all have the power within us to edit or rewrite it to realize our dreams and wishes. Through focusing on one’s strengths, challenging negative thought processes, and addressing trauma , I enjoy partnering with clients to empower them to edit their story so they are able to move forward and achieve the life they have always envisioned for themselves.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which has been proven highly effective for the treatment of trauma as well as with many other issues.
I love Andy Warhol's quote: "They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself". I view the therapeutic process as collaborative, one in which I offer understanding and support to provide you with the space to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the courage to work toward making meaningful changes in your life. My style is one of warmth, empathy, humor and insight-oriented methods combined with therapeutic interventions tailored to fit your unique needs and treatment goals.

I specialize in the following: -Anxiety -Depression -Bipolar – Complex Trauma LGTBQIA+ -Women’s Issues -Oppression-Based Trauma -Racial Identity Challenges -Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy Letters -Gender Affirming Surgery Letters.
In my 15 of years providing therapy, I have worked with various individuals experiencing different life challenges. The goal is to create a connection and from that connection build a bridge to healing and recovery. I believe that we are all seeking radical acceptance and radical belonging. Systemic oppression significantly impacts mental and physical wellness. I strongly believe it is not that a person needs to be "fixed". Marginalized and oppressed folx need support, space, agency, and tools to navigate an increasingly hostile and toxic environment.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
