My mental health work experiences include working in private practice for individual and group counseling, running groups for 8-14 year olds with ED, residential treatment for substance addictions, pre/post-op bariatric support groups, parenting groups and women with perinatal , fertility, and health challenges.
Every client is unique and deserves an individualized approach to help them live meaningful and purposeful lives. This will result in emotional wellbeing and happiness that may be missing. In my office, you will be met with a non-judgemental, honest, and safe space to be yourself. I have been working with individuals and groups for years.  While working as an educator for 14 years, I advocated for diverse populations, assisted with IEP/504s, completed assessments, and coached parents.  I am a member of ACACI, IMHCA, ICA and the ACA.

I also specialize in working with women struggling with Fertility, Pregnancy , Postpartum Mood/Anxiety, and Fetal Loss.
Families are under considerable stress due to loss of "normal" routines and uncertainty about the future. These fears affect everyone in the family differently. Parents find themselves overwhelmed, anxious, or irritable. Teens may appear withdrawn, sad, or frustrated. And children have reactions from very little to acting out behaviors. My passion is understanding a whole family system and help the system thrive. I value supporting each family member and their unique needs. I provide parents with a space to process fears and enhance parenting. I help teens and children create positive coping and behavior strategies.

I assist individuals of all ages in overcoming symptoms related to OCD, anxiety, perinatal stressors, depression, major life transitions, and other mental health concerns.
It takes a great amount of strength and courage to reach out and ask for help, or even explore that option. We can all use extra support at times throughout our life, whether we are experiencing high levels of stress, symptoms, or have been going through major adjustments in life. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor who believes therapy is a collaborative relationship that assists individuals in building their tool box, instills hope, and helps them overcome obstacles that create difficulty in their life.

Perhaps you’re struggling with managing overwhelming feelings associated with pregnancy or navigating the minefields of postpartum . Or maybe you’re a woman that is feeling frustrated that penetrative sex feels painful and less enjoyable than you thought it would be. Either way, you're feeling disheartened that your life does not look like you imagined it would.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Perinatal Mental Health trained provider, that specializes in anxiety, depression, women's issues, perinatal issues, and parenting support.
Have you decided to become a mom? It can be daunting and at times difficult. During this pregnancy are you asking yourself questions like “why am I not glowing and happy?” Have you just become a new mom and feel disconnected and that no one understands? Do you have young children and constantly ask yourself “am I a good mom, what’s wrong with me or my child?” You are not alone. I felt these very same thoughts and so have many others. Transitioning to parenthood the first, second or even third time can be overwhelming and at times traumatic and that is where therapy can be helpful.

I work with clients to help them live their valued life using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness skills. Change is constant and is part of life. With change comes stress and anxiety. Rather than simply reacting, which leads to a spiral of further stress and anxiety, I teach my clients coping tools so they are able to respond in a way that is productive and in their control, minimizing stress and anxiety. I also work with clients struggling with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) like postpartum depression and anxiety. In addition, I am also trained as a Cognitive Behavior Therapist for Insomnia (CBT-I).

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
