In addition to individual therapy, I specialize in parent guidance and support.
I believe that through self-acceptance change is possible. I work with individuals to discover resilience and perseverance by working through barriers and building strength in their self-awareness along the way. I work with adults 18 and older struggling to manage life transitions, anxiety, depression, navigate difficult relationships, improve self-worth, and with those who may be struggling to cope with experiences related to trauma. I incorporate mindfulness with REBT, CBT, behavioral, ACT, and solution-focused techniques.

My areas of focus include the treatment of anxiety, depression, ASD, ADHD, and LGBTQ+/identity issues, as well as women struggling with motherhood or life transitions, and individuals facing parenting challenges.
My ideal client is anyone willing to come to counseling and be open to the process! Regardless of where a client may be starting from or what they’re hoping to accomplish, I believe that anyone who is willing to show up and engage in the therapeutic process can benefit, and I am happy to guide and support them on their journey. I believe I would be an especially good fit for those clients who want to learn more about themselves and the “why” behind their feelings, behaviors, and thoughts; hope to develop a deeper, more genuine connection with themselves and others; and can appreciate some gentle challenging when appropriate.

I write and lead workshops on parenting , marriage, self-awareness, and effectiveness.
All good psychotherapy has these elements in common: the presence of empathy; a process for self-examination; tools for healing and change; and support during the process of change. Whether the focus of therapy is improving marriage, negotiating a family problem, facing addiction, healing trauma, or controlling anxiety or depression symptoms, clients deserve empathic, respectful support in increasing their self-understanding and in changing their lives. People seek therapy because they need understanding, help, and relief--the relief that comes from immediate attention to their suffering, and relief that comes from beginning to hope for a more peaceful, joyful life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Perinatal Mental Health trained provider, that specializes in anxiety, depression, women's issues, perinatal issues, and parenting support.
Have you decided to become a mom? It can be daunting and at times difficult. During this pregnancy are you asking yourself questions like “why am I not glowing and happy?” Have you just become a new mom and feel disconnected and that no one understands? Do you have young children and constantly ask yourself “am I a good mom, what’s wrong with me or my child?” You are not alone. I felt these very same thoughts and so have many others. Transitioning to parenthood the first, second or even third time can be overwhelming and at times traumatic and that is where therapy can be helpful.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
