Trauma, self-confidence, impulsivity, interpersonal skills, and school-related issues/ anxiety are also areas of focus for her.
Are you struggling to navigate a world designed for neurotypicals? Impulse control, forgetfulness and sensory issues can often impact the ability to fully engage in school, the workplace or our relationships. Do these issues affect your sense of self and self-acceptance? Perhaps you have a child, sibling, or partner who is neurodivergent. Often it can be a struggle to understand their unique needs resulting in increased stress and often an inability to connect with loved ones. Ever ask yourself, “How do I do this?” If any of this resonates with you, you are not alone.

The experience of anxiety and depression can feel debilitating and heavy. It can leave a person feeling stuck and hopeless caught in a loop of negative thinking and self-talk. Rarely can we identify any one thing causing this experience, rather, anxiety and depression are usually due to a more complex interaction of our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, environments, relationships, circumstances, and beliefs. By looking inward, we can better understand our own complex interaction of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and beliefs that manifest into the experience of depression and anxiety . With understanding, we can begin to heal.

Clients come to us with anxiety , depression, trauma, self-harm, relationship issues, and life transitions.
“Easier” doesn’t always mean “better”. It can feel “easier” to distract ourselves. It can feel “easier” to run on autopilot. It can feel “easier” to ignore our emotions. But does it really make us feel “better”? Our clients come to us to help integrate trauma, resolve anxiety and offer a safe space to process grief.

My areas of specialization include anxiety disorders, mood disorders and psychotic disorders.
Many years ago, French Philosopher Albert Camus wrote, "In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer and that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there's something stronger, something better, pushing right back". I believe therapy is an opportunity to find your invincible summer, the something stronger that resides within. Emotional pain is real, sometimes overwhelming, even paralyzing. Therapy is a safe place where we explore what's not working for you and together find solutions and make adjustments to restore balance and tranquility.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
