Women's Issues Therapists in Matteson, IL
I specialize in women's issues including anxiety, PMDD and prenatal/postpartum health.
My passion is to provide high quality therapeutic care to those who have experienced chronic, complex trauma and are now wanting to break the cycle and heal. I am a firm believer that trauma impacts our whole beings. And left untreated, trauma takes an emotional and physical toll that wreaks havoc on our mind, bodies, and spirits. I take pride in working with my clients to build a collaboration and empowering my clients to be the expert in their own lives and be the drivers in their own treatment process. I also offer clinical supervision to those working towards licensure.

Do you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or not quite like yourself? Maybe it shows up as a busy mind or emotions that feel tangled, stuck, or just out of reach. Or maybe there’s a quieter sense of disconnection from your body, your direction, or something harder to name. You may be someone who functions well on the outside, holding a lot together, while your inner experience feels more complex or harder to access. Therapy can be a space to pause, listen more closely, and begin making sense of what has been carried, avoided, or pushed aside.

I view therapy as a safe and sacred space for processing life experiences, emotions, thoughts, and trauma in order to achieve one’s goals and necessary growth. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with clients to understand their thought processes, address barriers to wellness, and identify ways in which they can achieve their goals. I believe that clients are the experts of their own lives: however, sometimes we need an outside perspective to help re-frame our thinking. I’m here to work with you to increase self-awareness and empower you to approach life in a way that enhances health and well-being.

Our team works with individuals navigating trauma, including childhood sexual abuse, human trafficking, and complex relational trauma. Many of our clients feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or struggle with trust, anxiety, depression, and unresolved pain. They are often ready to heal but need a space where they feel safe, understood, and free from judgment. We help clients process their experiences, rebuild trust in themselves, and regain a sense of control so they can move forward with clarity, confidence, and emotional stability. We also offer faith-based counseling for clients who wish to incorporate spirituality into their healing

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
