¡Hola! Me llamo Yessica (pronombres: ella/ellos/ellas). Tengo cerca de dos décadas de trabajo con niños y la colaboración con las familias como educadora infantil y en el trabajo de salud mental. Me esfuerzo por ayudar a las personas, los niños y las familias en la navegación de los obstáculos de la vida. Todos tenemos luchas que nos han dado el conocimiento, las habilidades y la capacidad de transformar las dificultades en fortalezas para mejorar nuestro bienestar.

Me gradué de la Universidad Loyola con una maestría en trabajo social y mi especialidad es en salud mental. Tengo más de 10 años de experiencia trabajando en el área de consejería mayormente con adultos. En mi practica me gusta crear un ambiente de empatía en donde los clientes que han sufrido eventos traumáticos en sus vidas puedan encontrar un lugar seguro en donde puedan sanar. Encuentro mucha satisfacción en ayudar a las personas a encontrar propósito mas allá del trauma y así puedan descubrir sus propias fortalezas.

I am a bilingual therapist, providing psychotherapy to Spanish and English speaking clients. My approach is compassionate and focused on leveraging your strengths to lead towards a worthwhile life. I tailor my approach to the individual with whom I work. This includes their needs, culture, values, personality and goals. Through our work we will examine your thoughts, actions and behaviors and move towards empowering you to realize more purpose, reach higher fulfillment and build your own self esteem. I work with individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents.

Combining knowledge and skills acquired through education, a decade of professional experience, and my own lived experience with trauma and recovery, my mission is to facilitate hope and wellness using humor, empathy, validation, and unconditional positive regard. I am familiar with treating a variety of populations and needs from years of work with nonprofit and community mental health agencies, but my passion truly lies with providing therapy to individuals (children through adults), couples, and families. I specialize in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, anger, emotional-dysregulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal struggles.

I am a licensed clinical neuropsychologist at Piece By Piece: Neurobehavioral Services and focus on providing patients with comprehensive neuropsychological testing across the lifespan. My training has involved providing psychological and neuropsychological assessment in a variety of settings (i.e., trauma hospitals, academic medical settings, VA healthcare systems, and private practice) and with patients of varying backgrounds. I have been able to provide these services in both English and Spanish.

We envision a world where people from minority groups are able to heal from the emotional scars inflicted by systemic discrimination, poverty, unjust persecution, and marginalization. Healing from intergenerational trauma is a crucial step toward achieving individual and collective wellness. We resonate with author Akshay Dubey that the path to healing doesn't erase the experiences that caused us harm, but rather allows us to move beyond them and live with newfound strength and purpose. It is easy to get stuck and feel overwhelmed in relationships as tension rises due to differences which can feel unbearable during a crisis. I work with couples who would like to work through the fatigue and burnout from hurtful relationship experiences. You can heal as you learn to make sense of you internal world, process interpersonal dynamics, and adopt effective coping habits, forgiveness and mindfulness. As you share your story, I will coach you through a model that will bring clarity to the maladaptive patterns that exacerbate mental health. My hope is that you will feel valued, honored and empowered as you heal and grow.

I believe in a client- centered approach in order to meet the client where they are and to provide support and skills that they can apply for the rest of their lives. I have a passion for crisis work, trauma, and individual therapy.
