I believe effective therapy involves a client-therapist relationship based on relatability and trust, along with the use of research-proven, active strategies to create lasting emotional and behavioral change. I have over 17 years of experience in private practice working with people of a variety of ages and backgrounds. My relational style is down to earth, using very little psychological jargon or labeling.

Ideal clients are adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, identity issues, low self-esteem, adjustment to life transitions, lack of direction or purpose in life, or spiritual concerns or conflicts.
Are you feeling stuck and stressed out, or perhaps not feeling good enough, smart enough, or attractive enough? You may think that no-one understands you, and you may even think, “What’s wrong with me? Other people don’t seem to have these problems”. All of these thoughts and feelings can be very distressing and can have a negative impact on your relationships, happiness, and productivity. I will provide support and understanding as we seek solutions to those areas of your life causing you the most concern.

Relationships are an integral part of life, which is why learning to navigate both relationships with others and the relationship with oneself is at the core of this therapeutic experience. I work to create a trusting and accepting relationship where clients feel deeply understood and valued, and I encourage feedback and collaboration as part of the process. Therapy is a place where one can gain insight into one’s past, develop skills in the present and plan for the future. I work with adults, adolescents, children and couples to heal from trauma, learn to cope with anxiety, depression or ADHD, and work through relational struggles.

I believe that every problem or life challenge offers an opportunity for growth and development. With the support of a positive and safe therapeutic relationship, you can find strength to address and overcome difficulties within your immediate family, in the workplace/school, with a present/past partner, and begin to feel a deeper sense of fulfillment, find or maintain more satisfying relationships, or begin to heal from a loss or crisis. With over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist, I have successfully helped adults, adolescents, and children develop more productive coping strategies, better communication skills, and a sense of resilience.

I specialize in working with individuals struggling with sex/pornography addiction and partners of sex addicts, in addition to those struggling with relationship challenges, and other life stressors.
So many of us suffer from feelings of shame, despair, and worthlessness. Never feeling quite "enough," we seek various and sometimes maladaptive ways of dealing with our pain and discomfort. Perhaps you sense you are more than what you are living and can't quite access your deepest self. If you are seeking a therapist, there is a good chance you are looking for a new way to make changes and differences in your life.

Through an effective relationship and use of positive psychology, cognitive therapy, mindfulness and acceptance we can come together to resolve personal issues and improve your quality of life.
Anxiety, anger and feeling down diminish your quality of life. These intense emotions reduce personal comfort and disrupt important relationships. I have partnered with many clients to mobilize personal strengths and abilities to address these issues. I utilize easy to understand, direct and effective short term counseling. I am open, understanding and view therapy as a path to personal growth.

My hope is that clients can utilize the therapeutic relationship to develop self respect, self love, authenticity, and courage to navigate our ever-changing existence.
Seeking therapy can feel so confusing and daunting. I strive to create a safe and warm atmosphere where we take growth at an individual pace. I am challenging yet supportive, direct yet affirming. This is a place where we will do real work. I am passionate about approaching the therapeutic experience from a holistic, strengths-based, and growth-oriented perspective. While remaining client-centered, I provide a structure and framework through which to heal, collaboratively creating strategies along the way. I conceptualize clients in the context of their social environments.

My professional experience has focused on working with adults and families dealing with adversity and life transitions and an array of other challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, family conflict, relationship problems, mood disorders, personality disorders, self-esteem, chronic illness, and women's issues.
I strive to use interventions that meet the specific needs of my clients in a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental way. I often use a cognitive-behavioral approach (CBT) in psychotherapy as I help my clients adjust and overcome maladaptive thinking patterns and behaviors. I also utilize dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and other therapeutic modalities as a way of teaching clients important coping techniques to manage their stress and navigate their challenges. My goal is to help my clients learning healthy ways of living and a positive mindset to overcome challenges.

Words Matter. Our sense of self and our hope in life stems from the words we hear and from the people that mean the most to us. You may have experienced hurt in a close relationship, and that hurt may not only make it harder to trust others, but it may even lead you to question yourself. What was it about me that made them do that? Or you may have absorbed the messaging all your life that something about you, how you look or who you are, makes you “less than”. Those critical thoughts take their toll on your body, your mind, and your spirit and can leave you feeling hopeless, powerless, and alone.

I believe that we humans heal in the context of relationship and that therapy is the process in which we find our way to our whole selves. In the therapy room, I join with clients to co-create their unique path to wholeness by realizing their inherent strengths and utilizing them to developing a 'tool belt' of strategies for which to work through life's struggles. Together we orient to the client's inherent capacity to gain mastery of their own functioning from the lens of their truth.

To me, therapy is a team sport. I'm there to help create a space and relationship where you feel safe exploring the things that are happening in your life. Maybe that thing is identity exploration, depression or anxiety that just won't quit, or figuring out how survive and then thrive after a big trauma. All of this is big stuff. I'm here to help you hold it and find a way through it. I have plenty of tools that I can bring to bear (questions, coping skills training, identifying patterns, and reframing situations), but ultimately, my approach centers around you and what you need to be successful, however you define success.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
