I believe people have innate strength and capability to solve their problems but that there are times we lose sight of our strengths or are overwhelmed by situations. We may feel shame, alienation or loneliness and often these feelings pervade our sense of self and our relationships. My role is to create an accepting and non-judgmental environment for you and to help you toward self-understanding, self-acceptance and positive change. I am honored that I am entrusted with one's vulnerabilities to hold and keep safe as we work together towards these goals.

Everyone is deserving of support that is free of judgment. I empower my clients to live balanced and fulfilling lives, however that may look to them. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I celebrate individuality with my person-centered approach tailored to each client’s specific needs and desires. As a strengths-based counselor, I help my clients make meaningful change by tapping into strengths and skills they already have.

Many of us are not taught to prioritize mental health and end up unsure of what to do when faced with difficult feelings. Therapy does not need to be scary or intimidating. My style is warm and deeply collaborative. Together, we will set goals, continually make sure we're moving in the right direction, and maybe even have a laugh or two along the way. I am a lifelong learner. In therapy, I draw upon the latest neurobiology research to help you understand how what's going on in your brain and nervous system can affect your mood and behavior.

A time of stress is one of the most common reasons to seek therapy. People also often enter counseling after experiencing a loss or a looming loss, whether it concerns a health crisis, relationship, divorce, job, the death of a loved one, or a major disappointment. My goal is to develop a warm and trusting working relationship with every client so that they have the opportunity to explore their thinking and feelings in a setting that is safe and secure. My work is solution-focused and evidenced-based. Ultimately, the goal of any therapy is life enhancement.

In our contemporary society it is easy to be content and even glad for medications that soothe symptoms, but healing comes from working through our underlying inner conflicts in a textured human relationship in which we can feel what we truly feel and become who we truly are. I believe distressful symptoms, whether depression, anxiety, anger, hurt, a sense of meaninglessness, a sense of emptiness, addictions, or behavior problems are signs. They are signs that it is time to grow our mindfulness of our underlying needs, feelings, and thereby gain choices for living more contently within our communities and families.

I believe that the therapist-client relationship is the most important tool we have when it comes your healing. I utilize a compassionate, non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach where you can openly examine your mental health, who you are, what you believe, and how your experiences and interactions with society affect your life. I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life, particularly clients who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, college students, and folks who are navigating life/spirituality after adverse religious experiences. I am a sex-positive practitioner and am kink and poly affirming.
