Let's face it - life can be pretty tough sometimes. Work, family, relationships, anxiety, stress... It can be a long list. The positive spin is that you do not need to tackle it all by yourself. Therapy is an excellent place to receive extra support and work towards positive change. My role is to meet you where you're at, help you identify your goals, and start making steps to reach those goals.

Life can be challenging and sometimes painful. Most clients come to me due to distress or general life dissatisfaction. My goal is to foster a safe place for individuals to share their feelings and their pain. I want clients to feel heard and understood. I feel it is a privilege to help people find ways to cope and empower them through challenging crisis or relationship struggles. My approach is collaborative and I try to build upon a person's strengths. For some clients, I provide tools and suggestions and for others I help them to identify their role in the conflict.

The journey of life is not always easy. Personal struggles, relationship challenges, unexpected circumstances, and other obstacles can get in the way of who and where we hope to be. When faced with challenges, the possibility of change can be hard to see, but where there is challenge there is potential: potential for hope, growth, and a more fulfilling life. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, my aim is to meet individuals wherever they are and help guide them in the process towards satisfying change.

For me, the ideal psychotherapy clients are people who have experienced life's challenges and are motivated to make changes. They have goals they wish to complete to improve their life. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to work with me while being fully engaged in the process. New techniques and behaviors can be scary and I am here to help my clients along the way.

People deserve to feel seen and have space to show up as their most authentic selves. In my therapeutic approach, I prioritize building a safe, compassionate, and honest environment that empowers clients to create meaningful change, foster resiliency, and utilize practical tools to navigate trauma and stressors in daily living. With that, I also encourage laughter, directness, and connection- I want to ensure that therapy feels supportive and real. Healing is not a linear process, and I strive to walk alongside my clients with empathy and transparency, meeting them where they are while challenging them to grow.

I see you. It takes courage, commitment and love to start counseling - all of which may seem in short supply some days. I'm passionate about healing and attunement. I love doing Couple's Counseling and it is the inspiration for my practice! I also work with individual adult clients who have a history of trauma. Another specialty is working with parents and their children to reset. My clients regain confidence in their relationships, themselves, in parenting, and in their ability to flourish with the ones they love.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
