Traumatic events from your past may bring up feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, or shame, which can prevent you from doing the things you want to do, affect your relationships, and make it hard to communicate or set healthy boundaries with others.
In therapy, I’ll meet you with respect, empathy, & freedom from judgment. As your therapist, my role isn’t to offer wisdom—it is to guide you toward connecting with the wisdom that’s already inside of you. I’ll support you in developing coping skills, finding meaning in the midst of loss or trauma, and creating the life you want to live.

I have specialized training in treating anxiety and OCD with CBT and ExRP therapies.
Sometimes life throws you a curveball or two. Some people have been dealt a difficult card from the start. I believe we all possess the tools needed to get through times of adversity, but at times, may need a little guidance. Having an objective ally to cheer you on can really make the difference in reaching your goals and feeling confident along the way. I strive to create a stimulating, comfortable, and safe place for people to be vulnerable. I tend to have a relaxed conversational style, while using evidenced based materials and approaches. I am committed to jumping in the muck with you so we can find solutions together.

EMDR is for clients with anxiety, trauma or low self-esteem.
Your life feels really challenging right now, but maybe you feel lost as to how to move forward. Maybe you feel alone or like you’re not enough. Many people feel the same, but there’s so much conflicting advice about self-care and wellness. Maybe you’ve even tried seeking help before but left feeling just as lonely and confused as before.

Finding your path forward often requires looking back. No matter who you are, you have overcome challenges before. We can use that strength to change how you feel about yourself and get unstuck. With some guidance, you can see yourself more positively and feel more confident about your future.

I am most experienced working with anxiety, depression, and navigating stressful life transitions.
I love working with clients who are going through the difficult parts of life and need some help figuring out how to handle it all. Whether that difficult experience is figuring out college and careers, navigating relationships, or just simply the stress that comes from the day-to-day, I approach my clients' problems without judgment. My clients tend to get the best outcomes when they can work with me to figure out what they would like to achieve in therapy and commit to enacting change, whether big or small, outside of sessions.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
