It is my belief that scheduling a session with a counselor takes courage. I am aware that you are on a journey that has lead you to seeking help from me. I am sensitive to your past, accepting of your present and hopeful about your future. The most important aspect of the treatment process is the relationship between client and counselor. This is why I consider my clients as the expert on what challenges they are facing. I encourage my clients to take the lead and teach me about how the issues are impacting them.

My ideal client or couple is seeking mental health support regarding past trauma(s), depression/anxiety, workplace stressors, relationship/sex/intimacy issues, family issues... basically anything that is impacting their ideal functioning. They want to process and put forth work towards therapeutic goals to improve their daily functioning. They may be POC, LGBTQIA+, parents, high performing professionals, and/or emerging adults. Most importantly, they are ready and willing to participate in sessions to work towards their healing.

It is not always easy to reach out to a stranger for help, yet you know you are ready to make a change in your life. My focus is on helping clients by understanding systemic or external factors that may impact your relationship with yourself and others. With that understanding we then work together to use that understanding to influence how we treat ourselves and engage the world around us.

I believe that, given adequate time, space, and resources, all individuals are capable of self-directed change regardless of their presenting problem. I also believe that therapy can often be the missing factor for those who seek but are unable to successfully make positive life changes on our own. As a counselor, I facilitate change by working with and through the client. As client and counselor, we work together, as a team, to best meet the client’s needs by setting, and then pursuing, realistic, attainable treatment goals.

It’s ok to not be ok. And when you’re not ok, it’s ok to reach out for help. Though life can often get us down, it is possible to rise above your circumstances, take control, and fight back. I believe that insight is a powerful tool in creating change within. As a therapist, I can help you better understand the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this new insight, you can identify problematic ones and challenge, replace, or reframe them. The path to change starts with identifying your underlying needs and finding more effective ways to fulfill them.
