I offer comprehensive psychological evaluations for children , adolescents, and adults as the primary focus of my practice. I believe in using well researched methods of assessment, restricting their interpretation to the scope for which they were designed and in providing well constructed, detailed and informative conclusions and feedback designed to help guide the client with succinct and thoughtful recommendations generated from the evaluation. I chose to maintain a small therapy practice in addition to my primary evaluation focus working with children and adults experiencing challenges with mood, anxiety, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders.

I use a combination of Marriage and Family therapy, Hypnotherapy and Spiritual psychology to understand and heal faulty negative self conclusions from the past. Once we understand,( sometimes through buried memories,) that our value as human beings cannot be "unworthy, or "not good enough", we can repair mental, emotional and spiritual wounds from the past. My goal is for you to live in freedom and fulfillment from finding your passion in, and for life.

One of the most difficult things for a person to accept is that they or their child needs the help of a therapist. Seeking the help of a therapist for oneself or their child is a very courageous thing to do and is a sign of great internal strength and the willingness to change. Together we will explore the presenting problem and how it has affected you in the past and how it is affecting you today. We will also work to change this problem, situation or behavior so you can move to the future you desire. I draw from many different theories/approaches in our work together. In working with children , I work individually with the child and with the family.

My clinical practice serves children of all ages, their parents, adult singles and couples, and elders.
Psychotherapy is a search to improve the emotional balance in one's life and to adjust the "fit" between personal preferences and social circumstances. By using a variety of strategies, it is often possible to reduce emotional obstacles and to open opportunities for a more satisfying daily life. As a psychologically experienced tour guide, I use academic and practical knowledge and the client-therapist relationship to help clarify thoughts and feelings and to suggest practical "homework".

I have roughly 9 years of working with children as young as 4 years old to adults in their 80s.
My ideal client? Probably you! Therapy requires engagement, and searching for a therapist is a great, positive step. I've worked with children and teens plenty, and I've become pretty good at engaging even the most reluctant. I really enjoy helping others find their identity and their comfortable space. I tend to work with anxiety disorders, trauma, and family conflict. Of course, what is trauma and conflict without stress, anger, and some low moods? I've worked with pretty much everything, and helping others identify their needs and goals is very satisfying.

Child Therapists

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
