I have offices located in both Homewood & Burnham & I am a Christian Therapist who has worked in field of Social Services & Social work for the State of Illinois in various capacities (Caseworker, Child Welfare Specialist, Child Protection Investigator, Public Service Adm., CWS Trainer (at the Dept. of Children & Family Serv.), Part-time Univ. Lecturer (at GSU) & a Medical Social Worker at Advocate Health Care). As a seasoned Social Worker, I specialize in providing Individual, family & marriage counseling to teens, adolescents, young adults & Seniors. I strive to help clients better understand and treat thoughts, emotions and behaviors which negatively affect their overall functioning. In order to achieve this, I primarily use a Person-Centered clinical approach, which means that through empathy and non-judgment, a person is able to discover more about him/herself and find solutions that will allow the person to move forward. When it is a good fit for the client and with certain mental health issues, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which relies more on techniques and reinforcement activities.

Rachel works with groups, individuals, couples, and families and operates holistically, considering how mental, emotional, spiritual, physical/nutritional, social, environmental, and occupational factors impact overall well-being throughout the treatment process. Integrating various theories as “tools in the toolbox” to fit the client’s specific needs, she believes that once individuals feel accepted and worthy, they are empowered to begin making lasting changes in their lives. This carries over to couples and families as they learn to shift the relational pattern of behavior through focused emotional connection and understanding.

She utilizes a CBT-DBT blend of techniques such as identifying cognitive distortions, journaling, cognitive restructuring and mindfulness as well as increasing interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Danielle works to foster resilience by aiding clients in revisiting what they’ve survived, being mindful of the here and now while preparing them to thrive.

I believe life becomes a gift when we are able to recognize and accept our true self, and facilitates this process by helping clients understand how their past has shaped them to be the beautiful and unique individuals they are. A quote that I live by and utilizes in my practice with clients is “When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at will start to change.” This involves identifying and connecting experiences that will ultimately lead to greater self-awareness and appreciation and help create a new view of life that will foster positive life choices and continual growth.

Healing begins from within and flows outwards. There are internal journeys that need to be addressed before one can successfully process, promote, and experience change externally. I do not have a specific ideal client that I would like to work with, because everyone is different. I do hope clients that allow me to work with them will be open and able to communicate their needs to me, so that I may be able to better assist them in a therapeutic manner. More importantly, I would like to partner with my clients to build a healthy therapeutic alliance while actively addressing and participating in sessions.
