For over 20 years, I have treated a wide variety of clients, experiencing a vast array of challenges. I have worked with adolescents to improve coping and communication, and with adults to navigate professional issues, family and relationship issues, as well as to resolve issues of sexuality, including sexual addiction. I have also worked with senior clients to address unresolved issues leading to depression and anxiety. I have also provided treatment in a wide variety of settings, from schools and communities, to hospitals and correctional facilities. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Ordained Minister of the United Church of Christ. I am also certified as a Sexual Addictions Therapist and Therapist Supervisor through the International Institute for Trauma and Addictions Professionals.

I have been in practice in the Chicago suburbs for years experience serving individuals from adolescence through adulthood in individual psychotherapy couples therapy. Although my practice is a general psychological practice, I maintain specialties in the areas of anxiety disorders including phobias and obsessive-compulsive disorder, addictions including process addictions and sexual addiction, and attention-deficit disorder in adolescents and adults. I am a licensed psychologist in Illinois, and hold certifications in the treatment of sexual addiction (CSAT) and multiple addictions (CMAT). My specialty is working with people who have issues arising from sexual behavior problems, including sexually abusive behavior, sexual addiction, pornography addiction and Internet addiction. While sex can be a pleasurable part of life, its misuse can lead to infinite heartache and misery. Sexual behavior problems are multifaceted, and are often rooted in an attempt to cope with painful non-sexual issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and broken relationships. I work with individuals who have acted out sexually and also with survivors of sexual abuse and trauma.

Welcome to the first day of change. Seeking help is the first day where change is possible because you are already doing something different, which is acknowledging you need help. 20 years ago I was in your same position. I walked into my first AA where I was ready to get serious about recovery. As of April 2023, I will celebrate 20 years sober and believe in the abstinence model of change. Because it works once you are ready to take back control over your life. Of course, there is always the option to keep digging - but let me tell you, climbing is much more satisfying.

I specialize in treating addictions to drugs, alcohol, and behaviors such as gambling, sex, Internet, and eating. I also address underlying issues such as anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. I work with adults of all ages individually as well as in groups. My approach to therapy is an interpersonal, client-centered approach. In other words, the client's own treatment goals are of central importance. Recovering from addiction usually entails two phases; stopping the problematic behavior, and the examining deeper issues.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. I graduated from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago, and earned a Master of Arts in Social Service Administration with a concentration in clinical social work and school social work Type 73 certification.

I am a Sex Therapist and LCPC providing psychotherapy services to adults. I believe that all individuals have the power to create change in their lives. I work with people to build insight, explore their lived experiences and understand how these experiences intersect to inform thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Through this process, I assist clients in identifying patterns in their life that may no longer be serving them. My therapeutic approach is grounded in an integrative application of Psychodynamic and Existential Therapy. I have received advanced training in Sex Therapy from the University of Michigan.

I believe a good working relationship can be one of the foundations of effective therapy, and some of my greatest natural strengths lie in the area of creating a relationship with you characterized by safety, trust and collaboration. The working environment we create will be especially helpful for those with depression, personality and relationship issues. I am comfortable with shorter-term work, but also recognize that some work takes additional time with a therapist in order to explore issues in greater depth and to generate lasting and meaningful change.

My primary focus for over 30 years has been providing help to individuals with sexual problems and relationship therapy. I have special interest and expertise in working with sexual dysfunctions, compulsive sexual behaviors and couple therapy.

Trauma is something that happens to all of us, we often times don’t even realize it has occurred or how it is present affecting us. I am here to work with you and aid you in figuring out what trauma may mean for you and how you can become empowered. I am trained therapist in sex addiction and operate under the mindset that addictive behaviors can be the result of past trauma. welcome any gender that is seeking support in sex addiction, porn addiction, PTSD, anxiety/depression and relationship issues.

My goal is to create a healthier world: body, mind, and spirit by encouraging others on their journey. My hope as a therapist is to come alongside my client and provide help in their time of need. Brian has been in the addiction/mental health field since 1993. He has been described as practical, realistic, and down-to-earth therapist who is naturally inquisitive and goal oriented. He brings his warm and light hearted sense of humor to the therapy process, as he has learned that the best way to lead a person toward wellbeing and happiness is to make the psychotherapy process relaxed, enjoyable and non-judgmental. But when necessary, Brian has a serious side, as addictions are for many, can be a life or death problem.
