Hi there, my areas of focus include working with adult individuals on topics such as anxiety, depression, substance use/addictions, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity development, and men’s issues. I have particular interest/experience in working with men and culturally diverse clients. I am LGBTQIA+ & neurodivergent affirming. Former clients appreciated a general two pronged approach, tools and strategies to practice now as well as the space to explore and process our experiences towards growth, healing, or a more meaningful, values-aligned life. Resonate with some of the above? We might be a good fit.

Life asks a lot of us and most people in this world are doing the best they can with the tools they have. Maybe you are feeling sad, on-edge, angry, grief-stricken, burnt out, or just like things have been really heavy lately? I want to help get you back to feeling like yourself. You deserve to feel better.
Sometimes, we just need a few more tools in the toolbox, and to work with someone who accepts us, challenges us, and walks with us through the stuff we are facing.
I really enjoy working with folks who: want to get to know themselves more; may struggle with boundaries or people-pleasing; and/or who "grew up too fast" as a kid.

I approach my clinical work with an emphasis on relationships, attachment and the importance of multi-cultural and relational approaches. I understand the value of knowing where a client comes from and where they have been in order to collaboratively develop interventions and approaches that are safe, effective and familiar. I believe that in order to truly help clients they, and I, must understand the context in which they live and learn and that the work we do in the clinical room must be transferable to their everyday life. Many of my clients are seeking guidance on how to engage in and maintain healthy relationships.

Many of the people I work with feel pressure to have it all together but feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. They may be navigating relationship challenges, confidence issues, or patterns they cannot seem to break. I help by creating a space where they can slow down, make sense of what they are experiencing, and begin showing up in ways that feel more honest and aligned.

I work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, often navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, professional stagnation, or major life transitions. At the heart of my work is helping people find greater meaning and purpose in their lives. I believe therapy is most impactful when the relationship feels safe enough for clients to be spontaneous, take risks, and explore new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating: to themselves and to others. My approach resonates with people who want to deepen self-awareness, cultivate self-compassion, develop clearer boundaries, and fortify their sense of self.

Welcome to the first day of change. Seeking help is the first day where change is possible because you are already doing something different, which is acknowledging you need help. 20 years ago I was in your same position. I walked into my first AA where I was ready to get serious about recovery. As of April 2023, I will celebrate 20 years sober and believe in the abstinence model of change. Because it works once you are ready to take back control over your life. Of course, there is always the option to keep digging - but let me tell you, climbing is much more satisfying.

Hi, I'm Tyler Biggs (MA TIU '26) (he/him), an MA on staff with Spring Tree Counseling and I'm well aware of the pressure to over-perform and under-recover. For men in particular, the expectation to provide some tangible service to the world and "prove" one's worth is a constant theme in my counseling. This can make us excel beyond our dreams, or find ourselves in a nightmare. I've worked in a range of fields from non-profit leadership development to college student mentoring to project management. And over the years, I journeyed alongside many high capacity people—and felt the difficulty of that title myself.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
