I have experience working with adults,
couples
, and families.
I believe everyone needs and deserves a safe space to address barriers preventing them from navigating through life the way they desire, thus I seek to foster safe and comfortable environments for those oppressed and marginalized. Living in unprecedented times, it is especially important to have support, awareness, and knowledge of effective coping skills to manage life's stressors. I believe it’s also important to process the lives we’ve already experienced and explore how this cultivates our current worldview.

I work with families, individuals, and students to help each person reach their ultimate potential. Whether it be a
relationship
issue, educational concern, or personal struggle, I believe we truly possess all the necessary power within ourselves to accomplish our goals. I help individuals explore, understand, and harness their unique strengths. Because no two individuals or families are alike, my treatment approach varies depending on presenting concern.

Empathy is built by establishing a trusting
relationship
and letting the client know that you fully accept them for who they are.
My ideal client would be someone who comes into therapy struggling with life's problems. It could be mental health issues, addiction,
relationship
problems, family problems, low self-esteem, guilt and shame, or spiritual emptiness. These clients want to be able to function in their life and find some measure of meaning and purpose in order to obtain peace, serenity, and satisfaction.

Rachel’s goal in therapy is to provide clients with a strong, stable sense of self and the confidence to live more honestly in
relationship
with others. As a therapist, Rachel draws heavily on her psychoanalytic training, helping clients access unconscious thoughts that may be affecting day to day life and relationships with the belief that insight itself can be liberating. Rachel’s approach extends beyond the psychoanalytic and is integrative, pulling from behavioralist models as well as family systems and attachment theory when and where appropriate. Rachel works primarily with adolescents, adults, and
couples
.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and use a strengths-based approach to therapy. I believe that the healing power of an empathic
relationship
provides a safe space for an individual to safely explore their values and the ways in which they make meaning out of their experiences and interact with the world. It is within this exploration that individuals can begin to dislodge from stuck patterns and make choices that are in line with their values so they can live out their life in an intentional way.

The client-therapist
relationship
is a powerful factor in how therapy works for you.
I work best with clients that desire a laid back, collaborative approach. Maybe you have goals in mind or need to process out loud to figure them out. My style is direct and casual, balanced with non-judgment and respect for your autonomy to support your authentic exploration and work towards connection, change, and healing. I have extensive experience with adolescents/young adults (ages 14-30), including queer, trans and nonbinary folks; parents; and adults navigating the general challenges of being a modern human in 2022.

We’ll
partner
together and use evidence-based methods to get your health and happiness back on track.
Unexpected problems and challenging seasons can cause you to forget the things that truly matter. As your worries and frustrations grow - life can lose both meaning and joy. In these moments, it’s very easy to isolate, withdraw, and avoid. “Keeping your head down” is a great temporary strategy to get through a tough moment. Or you might be very skilled at “pretending” that you’re OK on the outside, while you hide the truth on the inside. This can be really helpful when your family and friends depend on you to provide for them. How can you stop and take care of yourself when the stakes are so high? You deserve help and support.

Welcome to my profile. Finding the "RIGHT" therapist can feel like a real challenge for most people. I am a Holistic Psychotherapist in private practice since 1986. My healing approach is dependent on the needs of each individual client. The areas of special interest to me are spirituality,
relationship
and self-esteem issues, depression, anxiety, addictions and co-dependency, loss and grief, trauma, dissociation, (not necessarily in that order). I also offer group therapy, and have facilitated groups dealing with the aging process, self esteem/
relationship
issues, co-dependency, spirituality, grief/loss, and depression.

I know how difficult it can be to take those first steps toward seeking out a therapist. Life can be challenging in many ways and can be difficult to navigate alone. I take great care in providing a safe and collaborative environment for my clients to explore their lives and various obstacles in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way. Some of the modalities I use include CBT, DBT, ACT, Psychoanalytic, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Building a trusting
relationship
and witnessing each client's journey is what I find most fulfilling about my work as a therapist.

Via EFT, a large part of my clinical work is focused on
couples
who are seeking to strengthen their sense of connection.
In a word, my approach to therapy is relational. I am at my best when I am centered, curious and genuinely engaged in my client's experience... exploring, nuancing and understanding their unique perspective and the struggles they are facing. I believe in the importance of finding the right "fit" between client and therapist and it is for that reason that I strive to be authentic and fully engaged in every session. My training, areas of specialization and personal style are well suited for those who might be seeking to go deeper in their understanding of themselves and their relationships.

Our
relationship
will be built off a foundation of mutual transparency, respect, and empowerment.
Every person that comes to therapy has unique reasons for showing up. Some are bothered by constant intrusive worry thoughts; others are bogged down by intense sadness. Many have experienced events that have proven the world to be unsafe, unjust, and filled with pain. While the intentions for seeking therapy might all be different, almost everyone has the same general goal: to achieve a life worth living. It is my privilege and honor to assist you in figuring out what that looks like.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
