At both agencies, I have been one of the primary therapists to work with families of young children and adolescents, as well as clients with
ADHD
.
I work with clients of all ages with a wide variety of issues. My ideal client would be anyone (individual, couple, or family) who has identified an area(s) in life that needs to be worked on and has made the choice to work on that area(s). Simply making that decision sets the foundation for successful treatment.

Open and taking new clients! (in person/telehealth) The "ideal client" I imagine working with is an individual that is characterized by having difficulty coping with anxiety, self-esteem,
ADHD
, relationships, and offer Christian based counseling. The needs of the client I imagine would be empathy and compassion towards that individual, space for their voice to heard and their story to be respected. I imagine my ideal client would desire "practical" but, "impactful" coping techniques to alleviate symptoms. I imagine my "ideal" client aspiring to regain "control" back into their lives and to feel "empowered."

I aim to help children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with academic/social success. Whether dealing with
ADHD
, Learning Disorders, social skill deficits, motivation, or limited access to support services - a neuropsychological evaluation is the first step on the road to success. Children are often referred by their pediatrician, neurologist, classroom/ resource teacher, or school psychologist due to concerns regarding their functioning. Comprehensive evaluations are tailored to your child's individual needs. Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations typically include : intelligence, achievement/academic skills, executive functioning, learning and memory, language, visual spatial skills, coordination, social skills, behavioral and emotional functioning, and personality.

I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD,
ADHD
, trauma, and mood disorders.
Do you feel overwhelmed, weighed down and stuck in place at times, like you know what you should do, but don’t have the motivation to make it happen? This is the effect depression, anxiety and trauma can have on people, and you’re not alone. As your therapist, my goal is to make you feel heard and understood. Together, we will address your concerns by understanding how your thoughts, emotions, and physical health effect one another. We will seek to understand the underlying source of your symptoms and discover coping mechanisms that work for you through exploring your strengths, interests and support systems.

I have three areas of specialty: training and experience with children and adolescents, extensive experience and interest in working with families, and psychological testing for
ADHD
and emotional disorders.
I work with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking help for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, parenting, eating disorders, and codependency. I tend to combine treatment approaches (i.e. cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, psychodynamic) to fit the need of the client. I see my role as coming alongside each individual on their walk of life, and feel privileged to be invited into the personal space of my clients.

I have a warm and open relational style that communicates value and worth to my clients. My goal is to elicit your own strengths to make the change that you want. Too much guidance takes away your own autonomy, and too little keeps you confused, but finding the balance is one of the keys to good therapy. My clients appreciate my client centered and accepting style and most of my referrals come from previous client's recommendations. I have extensive experience with addiction, codependence, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, OCD, perfectionism, and
ADHD
.

You are feeling disorganized, distracted, or confused about life direction and struggling to anchor to a sense of self or personal values. Maybe you are struggling to acknowledge, feel, and express your emotions, and experience yourself shutting down. Or perhaps you are feeling stuck in negative self-talk, often struggling with perfectionistic tendencies and cycles of shame.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
