I work with teens struggling with parents, school, friends, anxiety, depression, and risky behaviors.
I have relocated my office to Freeburg, Illinois as of March 1. My hours are 10:45 AM to 6:15 PM Tuesday through Thursday and 10:30 AM to 3:45 PM on Fridays, but contact me anytime. I also offer virtual sessions on Tuesdays now. I know it can be overwhelming to pick the right person and make the first phone call or email, and I want to make it easy for you. I work primarily with teens and adults. I connect well with teenagers that may be hesitant to attend therapy. I also have a lot of success working with men and women dealing with relationship issues.

I have worked in the field of drug and alcohol, private practice, school settings doing wrap-around, and inpatient settings. In my downtime, I enjoy coaching soccer and reffing, along with many other sports, with my 7 kids and 2 grandbabies.

Do you ever feel like you're just going through the motions, weighed down by a past you can't seem to shake? Past experiences, even small ones, can leave you feeling mentally, emotionally, and physically drained. You might find yourself struggling with relationships, feeling on edge, or just not connecting with the person you know you can be. It's a heavy feeling, and you deserve a safe space to unpack it all.

Life is challenging. So many ebbs and flows. I recognize that and would love to help you on your journey. We can all use a little support from time to time. Relationships can be difficult to manage. Setting (and keeping) boundaries at home, at work, or within relationships is hard work. If you or your child are looking for support with issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, domestic violence, abuse, communication, or trauma, I'd love to help. I use creative therapy techniques in-person and via tele-health to support you or your child.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
