I enjoy working with clients of all ages towards their therapeutic goals. After years of experience, I am still in awe of the way clients are able to overcome trauma and hardship. I feel fortunate to be a part of the process of healing as clients use and build their strengths through challenging times. I have experience helping children and families in a plethora of family set ups such as biological, adoption, foster care, kinship care, etc. Most recently, I have been applying my therapeutic knowledge with children using play therapy and I am pumped to be a Registered Play Therapist.
The goal of Heal Thyself Counseling Services is to create a supportive therapeutic environment where clients can explore their own emotional needs and overcome barriers that limit their full potential by meeting each client where they are most comfortable - at their home, in office, or online. I have professionally served individuals, families, and children for more than 6 years. Using cognitive therapy techniques and psycho-education as the backbone for treatment planning, I can help you develop a clear plan for improving your life and important life relationships.

In this age of social media and dueling body ideals, it is no surprise that more and more people are reporting struggling with body image, self-esteem, and even eating disorders. My area of focus is on educating children, teens, and young adults on how to use healthy coping skills to manage comparison, low self-esteem, negative body image issues, and disordered eating, as well as anxiety and depression. I want to help individuals learn how to accept themselves and how to create a mindset of growth.
There comes a time when we realize that friends and family can't be our only outlet. Sometimes they rush to "fix us" or don't fully understand. Some of us don't have any support at all. We ultimately find that what we need is a neutral person with whom we can unload our burdens, free from judgement and critique. We need strategies to help us cope with difficult feelings and heal from the past. We find that once we begin this important work, we've created a path toward self acceptance, balance and empowerment.
"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." (C.G. Jung) - - Suffering is an inescapable aspect of life...an aspect that always carries potential for personal growth and meaning. The challenge is to pause long enough to reflect; to face what life has put before us, which we can no longer ignore. Psychotherapy is ultimately about having a safe place for an inner journey to meaning; a journey accompanied by someone familiar with the path and the process. Whether it's normal life transitions or a major life disruption, the struggle contains an opportunity.
My various experiences include working within school settings, outpatient, and community mental health agencies, as well as within the community providing crisis intervention services. My interests include working with adolescents and adults experiencing issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, and attachment difficulties.

What if your anxiety or depression didn’t stand in your way from accomplishing what you wanted anymore? What if your stress was more manageable and you were in more control over what kind of thoughts stuck around in your mind? What if you understood more about yourself and who you are? What if you were able to move beyond your trauma and no longer let it define you? What if you and your partner were able to regain some of that excitement you had when you first met? If you would like to know the answers to any of those questions, I would love to hear from you.
Sometimes we feel so alone, so hopeless and worthless, that we can't fathom a future worth living. Other times we feel terrified, frozen, or in a panic - afraid to make that first step. It may be hard to fall asleep or to wake in the morning. The things we once loved to do now seem dull. We may not know what is wrong but we do know something needs to change. There is hope. It can get better. And I want to help you get there

In some ways, the decision you’re about to make is the hardest part of this process. Choosing the right therapist and “type of therapy” can be confusing. That’s why I’d like to explain a little about my training and my approach to make your choice a little easier. My training taught me that by knowing what to listen for, I can connect your symptoms to your past life experiences. Once we start to do that, I will help you identify the reasons those experiences were hard to resolve. When something is hard to resolve, we tend to avoid it, which is why our mind then tells us that something still feels unresolved by producing symptoms.
Do you continuously feel overwhelmed by emotions, fearful, guilty, helpless, alone, unloved and invalidated? Constantly overthinking, exhausted and not having the will to do anything? Do you engage in excessive people pleasing and repeat survival patterns of flight and fight? Do you cope by shopping, using substances, overeating or excessive working? It does not have to be this way. You can find a way to live a meaningful life, with a sense of balance and belonging.
