Life can be easy when everything goes exactly as we plan… but it rarely if ever does. Traumatic experiences of all shapes and sizes have a lasting impact on the way we perceive and interact with the world and can manifest in ways that prevent us from living our best lives. When we get stuck in patterns that either do not serve us, or worse, make our lives even more challenging, we need new tools to identify and more effectively work toward those unique aspirations we have for ourselves.

Maybe you’re a teen sorting through identity, a couple stuck in old patterns, or someone just trying to survive one day at a time. You might be carrying complex trauma, grief, or feeling burned out trying to hold it all together. You want therapy that doesn’t feel clinical—you want something honest, affirming, and human. You’re not looking to be “fixed,” you’re looking to be understood and supported while you figure out what’s next.

My therapeutic style draws from evidence-based approaches like ACT, and ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) with plenty of room for exploration and flexibility.
As a therapist, I bring a reflective, curious lens to our work together. I see therapy as both a tool to alleviate distress and pain and a vehicle for deeper self-reflection and authenticity. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, uncertain about the future, and seeking relief. In addition to finding ways to cope with what is difficult right now, I work to create a safe, supportive space to look at and learn from this distress. This may involve finding patterns that have kept you struggling, healing from past harms, exploring and expanding your existing strengths, and moving toward a more meaningful way of living.

I am a psychotherapist with a passionately client centered approach to therapy. Living with symptoms and/or living through experiences that are overwhelming can rupture confidence in ourselves and in our ability to adapt to life's challenges. I aim to help clients repair and deepen this trust in themselves. No matter how great the challenges, I believe that we all naturally move towards growth and healing when in an environment of genuine presence and support. I build therapeutic relationships grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and respect.

If you’re looking for therapy that is thoughtful, goal-directed, and grounded in evidence, I may be a good fit. Many of the clients I work with appear to be managing well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck internally. These concerns may follow trauma, develop in response to chronic stress, or emerge as anxiety or sleep difficulties that begin to interfere with quality of life.

I am a Certified First Responders Counselor with additional certifications in anxiety, CBT, ERP, and Integrative Medicine.
You might look like you’re holding it all together—but inside, it feels overwhelming. Maybe your mind won’t slow down. Maybe you’re carrying grief that others don’t fully understand. Or maybe you’re in the middle of a life transition and feel unsure of who you are or what comes next. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. If you’re a first responder, you’re used to being the strong one—the one others rely on. Therapy can be a place where you don’t have to carry that role. You can show up exactly as you are, without pressure or expectations.

Finding the right therapist—especially online—can feel overwhelming. I’m Nikki, a licensed social worker and holistic therapist who believes that true healing happens when you feel seen, safe, and supported. My approach honors the whole person—mind, body, and nervous system—because lasting change doesn’t come from talking alone; it comes from understanding why your system learned to cope the way it did and gently creating new pathways forward.

On the outside, you're holding it together. On the inside, you're running on empty. Constant anxiety, overthinking, emotional exhaustion, or feeling disconnected from yourself can make everyday life feel harder than it should. You deserve more than getting through the day. In therapy, we'll identify the patterns keeping you stuck, understand how they developed, and build practical strategies to help you feel calmer, more resilient, and more at home in yourself and your relationships.

Do you struggle with GI issues (IBS, IBD, etc.), medical anxiety, chronic pain/illness, or sexual concerns that feel intertwined with stress and your body? Living with a condition that is physically and emotionally exhausting? It’s natural to feel frustrated by symptoms that don’t fully respond to medical treatment alone, overwhelmed by the healthcare system, and/or disconnected from your body after illness, pain, or medical trauma. Working together, I can help you build a more compassionate and flexible relationship with your body, while also focusing on symptom reduction, so your life feels bigger than your health conditions.

I utilize ERP for OCD, ACT and exposure for anxiety, CBT-Insomnia for insomnia, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy for chronic pain and other chronic conditions.
You cannot think your way out of a biological loop. If you are a high-achiever, frustrated that logic hasn't solved your symptoms, it’s because OCD, anxiety, chronic pain, and insomnia are not logic problems. They are biological loops. You have to behave your way out. And you can only behave your way out once you know the way. As a Step-Up Specialist and the owner of Evanston Anxiety Clinic, I provide technical, protocol-driven care for those who are smart, capable, and stuck. I help you understand the loop and then map the way out.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
