I enjoy helping others tap into their internal strengths as they endeavor working through their past experiences and the challenges of today. I encourage individuals to utilize emotional and relational resources at their disposal along their journey to Wellness.    I offer a safe, authentic and empathic environment to explore behaviors, feelings and thoughts that may lead to internal or relational discord.  This perspective will allow one to develop self-awareness, assertiveness and healthy boundaries to gently address the important areas of life in a productive manner.

Congratulations on taking this courageous step. Life can feel heavy when you’re juggling expectations, responsibilities, and change. I work with ambitious women and young adults who appear capable on the outside but struggle internally with anxiety, burnout, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist I promote talk therapy and creative expression as methods for healing, empowerment and life enhancement. My focus is to be a conduit for compassion, grace, and healing. In therapy sessions, clients use talk therapy and/or art materials and techniques to explore emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects in order to access their innate wisdom and healing potential. By providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients there is an invitation to enter a path into curiosity, discovery, and enrichment which presents openings for change and growth.

I work with clients seeking help related to coping skills - especially relationship work in the realm of anxiety and anger management. I focus on calm expectations to enable clients to see things through a different lens in order to focus on their best selves. I work with individuals and couples. I ask you to allow yourself the space for growth, healing, and self-discovery. Therapy is not a destination, but a process—one that can be filled with both challenges and breakthroughs. It’s a space where you can be open, vulnerable, and most importantly, true to yourself.

I strive to help clients better understand and treat thoughts, emotions and behaviors which negatively affect their overall functioning. In order to achieve this, I primarily use a Person-Centered clinical approach, which means that through empathy and non-judgment, a person is able to discover more about him/herself and find solutions that will allow the person to move forward. When it is a good fit for the client and with certain mental health issues, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which relies more on techniques and reinforcement activities.

Healing Out Loud LLC was created from the belief that too often people are coping with life’s stressors and struggles in silence until that silence begins to impact their mental health. You don’t have to carry everything alone. My goal is to help stop the cycle of suffering in silence by offering a space where your story, experiences, and voice truly matter.

My ideal client is the motivated and eager client. Perhaps you've intellectualized all of the things you have experienced and you are ready to do something about it! I help people do a deep dive through their self awareness, ranging from childhood (micro & macro) trauma to where unresolved emotions or experiences may live in your body. If you are ready for a deep dive within, we may be aligned. I am EMDR trained and practice from a wholistic framework that welcomes a whole body experience for healing and self-connection.

It's been a while since you've had an opportunity to take an intentional pause. There has been so much chaotic noise in the background of your day to day life that has made accessing yourself feel...difficult. In this current political and social climate you may have found yourself in the whirling dervish of doubt. That doubt may have led to you questioning your values, your beliefs, or your community. If you are in the midst of this know that is not uncommon; especially if you have intersecting identities. This discovery process can lead to oppositional emotional experiences; in our work I create room for that in between space.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
