Are you navigating a season of change — caring for others, redefining your role, or feeling the weight of transition in your relationships? I work with thoughtful teens, adults, and couples who are moving through life transitions and seeking steadiness, clarity, and connection. Many of my clients are balancing multiple roles — caring for aging parents, raising children, navigating relationship shifts, or adjusting to loss. Others are teens or young adults trying to understand themselves in the midst of identity changes and emotional overwhelm.

The things that we experience and go through in life can create different lens in which we see ourselves. Like a pair of glasses, each one is different and can have a different impact on the story we tell about who we are. Sometimes with the things we experience can create a lens of low sense of self, anxiety, depression, or even trauma responses. It's important to have someone you trust who can aid in walking you through those different experiences to be able to dismantle the thoughts and the emotions, from the experiences to lead you to living a happier and more fulfilling life.

You feel lost. Entirely alone in your struggles, like no one can understand what you’re going through. You desperately wish you had a better handle on things and feel like a failure for your shortcomings. But this problem isn’t unique. The experience is so common that there are memes about it. Everyone struggles; it’s perfectly normal. Of course, knowing that doesn’t make those thoughts and feelings go away. But that’s where we come in.

My ideal client is thoughtful, self-aware, and feeling stuck—often high-functioning on the outside while anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected inside. They may struggle with anxiety, relationship patterns, life transitions, burnout or feel like there is a void in their life, and they want more than surface-level coping skills. They’re seeking clarity, emotional balance, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. Their goal is to feel grounded, confident, and aligned—understanding why they feel the way they do and how to move forward with intention.

I help men wrestling with depression, anxiety, burnout, trauma, relational struggles, or just not knowing how to get out of the rut in which they find themselves. Do you feel like you’re drowning? Fighting for breath, but unable to breathe, even though on the outside everything “should” be okay? Do you find yourself angry but not know why, or fighting against apathy, but not having a clear reason? Do you desire to be a better man, husband, or father, but not know how to get there?

For over 35 years I have worked with individuals, couples and families to solve problems, improve relationships and make life transitions. In this time, I have learned to respect the uniqueness of each individual and family, as well as the abilities and courage they bring to the challenges they face. My approach is friendly, straightforward and solution-focused, but with appreciation for the variety and complexity of factors that may be involved with the issues that folks bring to therapy. I enjoy collaborating with clients to manage stress and modify the patterns of thinking, feeling and acting that concern them.

If you are reading this, I commend you for taking that first brave step in researching therapists. Finding the right fit is such an important part of the healing process. Whether you are experiencing something internal, external, or both I want to help. I work with adults in individual and couples therapy, and specialize in relationship issues, overcoming breakups, men’s issues, life transitions, exploring cultural identity, and depression. Part of this work includes exploring past experiences and relationships and how they impact us currently. I also use humor in my work, it can be such a healing tool.

I treat sexual abuse, complex relationship challenges, and men's issues affecting performance, identity, and relational functioning.
Are you carrying the effects of sexual, emotional, or physical abuse while continuing to succeed in your professional life? Many high-functioning leaders and creatives live with hidden anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or relationship struggles rooted in earlier trauma. You may appear capable and composed, yet feel disconnected, ashamed, or exhausted inside. If parts of your past still shape how you relate, trust, or see yourself, therapy can help you understand those patterns and begin reclaiming a more integrated and authentic life.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
