When we lose that connection to our self, all other connections in our life suffer. Suddenly, it is a struggle to be fully present with the ones with love and care for. We become blocked from experiences in life and career that used to bring us fulfillment. We lack the motivation to participate in the communities in which we have a vested interest. When faced with these disconnections we start to wonder: What is my meaning? What is my purpose? What’s the point?

Making the decision to seek therapy can feel both overwhelming and empowering. My goal is to support you as you take this important step towards achieving wellness. At different life stages, certain stressors can be more difficult to manage. I strive to help people find new ways to cope with these challenges.

The purpose of therapy is to help you get beyond a state of elementary survival -to a place where there's energy to be creative, the drive to motivate yourself, some space to take a walk, and perhaps time to attend a class. You may ask yourself constantly: "Isn't there more to life than struggle? Instead of walking in circles wouldn't it be nice to expand your horizons and gain a new perspective? Therapy is the place to do such things. It's a safe environment to become more awake and to develop more fully your genuine Self.

When junk food, Netflix binges, and a long cry aren’t quite enough to combat whatever has you feeling down or anxious, then perhaps it’s time to explore therapy. There is nothing quite as fulfilling as discovering the best version of yourself, and I’d be honored to help you find it!

I believe psychotherapy offers a growth-fostering relationship: one that deepens your understanding of yourself, generating a sense of agency and choice throughout your life. I offer a supportive, therapeutic relationship-one that facilitates understanding you, your feelings, your choices, your losses, and your goals-as integral to the essential work of leading a healthy, meaningful life. I find that people often enter therapy feeling anxious, depressed, isolated or alone, amidst traumatic or ambiguous losses, and when ways of coping have become more harmful than helpful. I work with adults, emerging through older age, to support a transformative process of growth and change.

As a culturally affirming trauma therapist, my highest intention is to restore dignity to those who have been marginalized or exiled from our human community because of their traumatic experiences. I see therapy as a journey we embark on together, where I am invited not only to tread the well-worn paths of our shared humanity, but also to walk reverently into the sacred spaces of my clients' life stories. I approach this work with humility, deep respect, and a fierce commitment to my clients' well-being. I am known to hang in there when things get tough, and I enjoy a healthy dose of playfulness and humor in every relationship.

My work years ago with adolescents led naturally to working more closely with parents, who often struggle themselves during this turbulent time for their children. A third of my practice is with adolescents (anxiety, depression, academic underachievement, identity issues), another third with parents and couples/marriage (with or without children), and the other third with individual adults (anxiety, depression, issues of generativity in personal and/or professional lives).

In therapy, I work to empower my clients and help them build a stronger sense of compassion for themselves. While we can't change the world around us in the office, we can work together to find ways that make it easier to get through the challenges that come in life. My approach focuses on the context people are from as well as the context they are in now to gain a better understanding of who they are as a person.

I strive to understand you in the context of your life history and relationships. I think often when people are struggling they feel disconnected from others in painful ways, and perhaps from parts of themselves. Having a safe space to talk about concerns can often help us find a way forward that might not have been evident before.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is paramount in fostering change. It is through an open, nonjudgmental, and safe environment that clients can explore and grow into their most authentic selves and lead more fulfilling lives. My approach emphasizes how our past and present experiences shape how we relate to others and the world around us. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, and utilize an integrative and collaborative approach that incorporates aspects of Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist, Relational, and Strengths-Based approaches.

I am a psychotherapist who works with teens, adults, and couples on a range of issues: anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, infidelity, and life transitions. When we challenge deeply-held emotional beliefs, we can move towards lasting change. With lived experience, warmth, and empathy; I come with a compassionate, and inclusive approach. When people explore their full selves with curiosity, they may be amazed at what they can change (or learn to love and accept themselves)!
