My passion is in working with individuals coping with physical health complaints, changes in ability (i.e. due to aging or health), and significant loss (i.e. loved ones, pets, etc). Beyond that, I have experience working with individuals of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety, oppositional behaviors, trauma, and personality disorders. My ideal client is someone (or someones) who is struggling but motivated to discuss these struggles and try new things both inside and outside of therapy.

Some common concerns I help my clients address include conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, attention deficient hyperactivity disorder, anger management, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
The COIVD-19 pandemic has made an impact on the way we live our lives. The unknown is what many of us find where we need comfort in the most. It is my goal to provide a safe and collaborative space where you can fully express your thoughts, feelings, doubts, and desires. I deeply respect all people and their unique identities and experiences. I listen carefully to make sure I fully understand and then work in partnership and support to develop goals and plans. It is my hope that everyone I meet with feels accepted and comfortable throughout our journey together.

In practice for over 40 years, I have a great deal of experience with children, adolescents and adults. Area of specialization working with perpetrators of and family members impacted by domestic violence. Anxiety and life adjustments are also an area of specialty. Retired as high school social worker, I've worked with hundreds of adolescents and families. It is my belief that emotional energy is finite and that helping you in achieving balance can be so very helpful in finding solutions to emotional distress. Jazz trumpet is my avocation and I work to pass along the lessons I have learned relating to persistence and mindfulness.

I believe a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship will help you increase self awareness, understanding and the acceptance needed to bring about positive change and growth. It is equally as important to focus on your strengths as it is to focus on the areas of your life you find to be challenging. Therapy provides an opportunity to learn more about yourself and better understand your life choices as well as assist you in better understanding your most important relationships, past and present.

We do the best we can with the histories and resources we have. Our experiences and relationships shape/influence us, sometimes leaving us hopeful and nourished and other times leaving us stuck, depleted, anxious, sad, confused/overwhelmed. With a safe space and support, we can draw on our inner resilience to confront, manage and transcend our challenges, freeing us to live more authentic and fulfilling lives. My work is trauma-informed. My process is collaborative and interactive. I approach each therapy encounter with an open mind, recognizing that you are the expert in your life and know what works and what you need from therapy.

I am Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in children, adolescent girls, families and woman. I have been working with families on Chicago's North Shore and surrounding areas, for almost two decades. Although my training emphasized an Adlerian approach to therapy, I have a broad range of experience with many therapeutic modalities and am able to tailor my practice to the needs of you or your family. I believe in treating the "whole-person," which means a one-size-fits-all approach will not work.

Welcome. You may ask, “What does the path to healing look like and how do I get there?” The answer is that the path looks different for everyone; just get on your path! I believe that the first step is to build a trust through a therapeutic relationship. This happens in a safe, open and non-judgmental space for individuals, adolescents and families.

Oppositional Defiance (ODD) Therapists
All children are oppositional from time to time. But their behavior can become incessantly and openly uncooperative such that it stands out relative to other children. Oppositional Defiant Disorder (or sometimes referred to as "ODD") tends to be evidenced by frequent temper tantrums, excessive arguing with adults, the questioning of rules, active defiance and refusal to comply with adult requests. You may also see deliberate attempts to annoy or upset people, blaming of others, being touchy or easily annoyed by others, frequent anger and resentment, mean and hateful talking when upset, a spiteful attitude and revenge seeking.

These therapists can help with oppositional defiance in Evanston or provide counseling for parents handling an oppositional defiant kid in Evanston, oppositional defiant teen or oppositional defiant children in Evanston.
