I see clients 10+ years old, and I am skilled in treating anxiety, stress, trauma , eating disorders, grief, relationship problems, anger management, and a variety of other issues.
I believe one role of a therapist is to help clients find ways to become the version of themselves they truly desire to be. Every person already possesses a unique set of skills and base of knowledge stemming from their life experiences and personality. People are often more resilient and capable of change than they realize, and it is my goal to help clients identify personal strengths, learn new skills, and create meaning, peace, healing, and change. We all need help sometimes, and there is no shame in asking for guidance or seeking a safe space to process the many unexpected things life can bring.

I work with individuals who are dealing with a post Trauma reaction, be it a "big T" trauma incident, or a lot of "little t" hurtful experiences.
Stuff happens that affects our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I believe your mind works fine. But a facet of your mind is causing you to respond or feel in ways that make life more difficult than it should be. This ongoing emotional distress or pain is not helping you be more effective in your life. I will help you address that 'facet of mind' to unplug the emotional pain and irrational thinking, so that your thoughts and energy are moving you towards what is valuable in your life.

At some point in every person's life, therapy can be helpful. People who seek therapy are engaging in a healthy, proactive approach towards their life. They are typically seeking to implement positive, lasting life change and growth. Counseling, or therapy, is considered a collaborative, cooperative, problem-solving process, actively involving both the client and counselor, to bring about emotional or behavioral change. Counseling is a proactive and healthy way to manage life stress, work through trauma , develop coping skills, improve behavior, communication and more. As a private practice counseling group, our goal is to help.

I, originally, started my practice to expand on my experience with the intersection of trauma and the LGBTQ+ experience.
Update:(Current availability for Clinical Supervision) You are the expert on you. I am here to walk beside you as we increase your awareness, understanding, and insight of what has happened to you and the ways past traumatic experiences are currently affecting your life. Your brain adapted so that you could survive. Your current struggles may be from adaptations that no longer serve you. Together, we will develop this insight and engage in life changing, trauma informed, work. It is important that we, both, determine a good and ethical fit in our roles as client and therapist. For more than 25 years, I've worked with adults experiencing a wide range of issues -- including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life changes, loss and grief, recovery from trauma , workplace issues, sexual abuse, low self-esteem, addictions, infertility, pregnancy loss and post-partum depression.
I believe that the clients who walk into my office are strong. They have an inner strength that is the cornerstone of change. The voice that says, "Enough, I'm taking back my life." Together, we will champion that strength to discover the blockages that have held you back or kept you suffering and create solutions and options to get you back on track. I passionately believe that you deserve better -- let's get to work. My approach to therapy is client centered and goal directed.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
