grief
and
bereavement
community close to my heart.
I work best with clients that are open to exploring their feelings and emotions in new ways.
Grief
support is my specialty, I also work with anxiety and depression. When I support grievers, we work together to determine how and if you'd like to honor your person that died, explore feelings around their
death
, and what life looks like now.

I have worked with individuals, couples, and families as they've grieved the
loss
of a loved one, as divorce unraveled their sense of stability, or as unforeseen events and difficult transitions presented.
I believe it is a true privilege to be able to help others work through some of their most difficult times in life. I see each person as having unique needs, dreams, strengths and challenges, and I know that working collaboratively with a client requires that I first understand and honor who that individual is. People seek therapy for a variety of reasons, and it is often a daunting task to find a therapist who is the right fit. I would love the opportunity to talk with you, so that you may decide if I am the right counselor for you.

loss
and broken relationships are a part of many peoples' life stories yet sometimes it can be difficult to accept those parts of one's journey. I invite you to come with all the pieces of who you are and share your story.

People struggling with depression/anxiety,
grief
, relational issues, anger, questions of meaning, identity, and trauma, are all welcome to contact me.
I believe in the innate dignity of all people, and the work I do as a counselor is to encourage and empower people to live up to their personal values and embrace a more abundant life. When I work with a client I meet them where they are, without judgment, and enter into a working relationship built on trust, empathy, vulnerability, and communication. I have a person-centered approach to therapy, meaning that I respect the people who walk into my office enough to trust them to make decisions for themselves. I believe change is inevitable, but also, often painful, but that doesn't mean we can't work to find hope and grace.

I like many different types of clients. However, the ones that are truly interested in change and growth are the ones that seem to find their way to health the most quickly. My clients create their own goals and, hopefully, gain hope and strength to move towards achieving them.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
