Relationships are full of challenges. At times you may feel like your “stuck” in the same communication cycle or emotional patterns with your partner . You might also feel like you have lost a sense of self and struggle with understanding why. You keep trying to improve aspects of your relationship and self, but nothing appears to work. Exploring your feelings, seeking life satisfaction, and reestablishing connection in intimate relationships, may seem stressful, confusing and at times overwhelming. I have a passion for collaborating with individuals and couples in navigating through various life challenges.

When working with clients, I take a holistic and relational approach to therapy, meaning that I value the relationship in and of itself, just as much as the progress made in therapy.

I aim to provide a safe space to release your thoughts, process your emotions and behaviors, and heal. For whatever reason, you ended up here—and I am so glad you did! I'm here to help you by providing a warm and welcoming environment for you to be your most authentic you. I provide couples and family counseling, as well as individual psychotherapy.

I am here to partner with you to tackle emotional and behavioral concerns with you and your child, utilizing skills from my combined 12 years as a teacher and now as a therapist.
Are you having a hard time connecting with your child? Are you watching them struggle on a daily basis? The challenges youth have to navigate today are unique and complicated. Many of my clients are between the ages of 6-18 and many suffer from anxiety, depression, family divorce, thoughts of self harm, oppositional defiant disorder, social/educational concerns at school, etc. Typically I meet with the child and then bring in the parent for the end of session to review and talk action plans/next steps. By working collaboratively with youth and their parents, we can work together to repair relationships and develop strong bonds.

I strive to create a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients that is based on trust and respect.
Hey, how's it going lately? My name is Jackie and here's the thing... I am a nerdy, artsy-fartsy, book worm. There, I said it! Anyway, now that we have that out of the way, I primarily work with children, adolescents, young adults, and women that are not feeling like themselves. I also have experience with ABA and working with children that are on the Autism spectrum. I understand that it can be overwhelming trying to find someone you can trust with your stories and what you are going through - and parents, I know you just want to give your children the resources to succeed. Just know that you are not alone.

I work with individuals, couples , and families and provide clinical supervision to counselors.
Do you wish your life was different, or your relationships more fulfilling? People often begin therapy when they are hurting or feel stuck. They may feel overwhelmed by past or present stressors or traumas and may not know what to do to feel better. Others begin therapy as a means to deepen their understanding of themselves and to reflect on how and why they think, feel, and act as they do. Therapy is a process of self-reflection that leads to personal growth and healing.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
