My approach to therapy is that of a guide, helping people discover their own inner strength so they can make positive changes. Clients say that my laid back demeanor and calming presence allow a safe, relaxing place to talk openly and work through concerns together. While both direct and supportive, I tailor my approach based on the individual needs of each client. Whether child, teen or adult, I feel it is a privilege to help clients find healing and happiness.

I work primarily with adolescents (ages 10-25), marriages, and men's issues. I currently supervise a team of therapists through Unbroken Family Counseling. I work within this team and, when necessary, work with schools, psychiatrists, and other community resources to help my clients. My ideal client is a teen who doesn't think he/she needs counseling, a marriage that is on the rocks, or a guy dealing with guy stuff (guys know what I'm talking about). If I cant help you I can help find someone who can.

For Children/Teens: It is my mission to supply an additional safe space for your child/ teen to reconnect with their self-worth and expand their coping skills.
Everyone deserves to be accepted, appreciated and acknowledged. When stress overcomes, we often forgot how deserving we are of these essential needs. For Young Adults: Shifting out of high school comes with many uncertainties. Whichever avenue you’ve selected, life starts to feel different as more decisions, expectations, or emotions piling up. I am here to support you through these transitions, while supplying you a space to call your own. I adapt my approach to best fit your needs whether its through building skills, processing, life planning or simply being your empathetic support!

If it has left you or your teen feeling overwhelmed, anxious, less motivated and altogether out of sorts, you are not alone.
I’m glad you’re thinking about therapy. It’s not always easy. Most of us operate under the idea we should be able to figure it out on our own. But unfortunately that’s just not always true. We often build walls and create patterns just to survive. That’s the truth of it all, you’re a survivor because you’re here. I help my clients understand all parts of themselves and uncover what parts may be holding them back, while learning tools to help break these disruptive cycles. There are no bad parts, and you (or your teen ) aren’t broken. I’d love to help, feel free to email, or call me when you’re ready.

Many of us reach a point where we feel stuck in our lives or our relationships. We realize that what we have done in the past to manage stress, to cope, to heal, to move forward is no longer working the way it used to and we need new strategies. As an individual and family therapist who has worked for 6+ years in two diverse metropolitan areas (New York and Chicago), my work has focused on family relationships, identity exploration, adult and adolescent mental health issues, parenting, social skills, grief, loss, and other life traumas.

For young adults, we work with similar themes as my adolescent clients, while embracing more of the freedom, potential, and independence that comes with the journey into adulthood.
I believe psychotherapy can help with almost anything. Sometimes clients come in needing assistance with making a tough decision, while other times they’re needing tools to help better cope with anxiety or depression. I feel called to work with younger folks - adolescents and young adults particularly. Adolescence can be uncomfortable and confusing. It is a painful time for teenagers. I am deeply passionate about providing them with unconditional support, empathy, and a safe space to share their emotions. As for young adults, I am passionate about helping them find the direction in which their soul is calling them.

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
