My clinical interests lie in treating couple’s issues (preparing for
marriage
, parenting, or divorce), life transitions, blended families, and adolescents.
Everyone needs a person to talk to, but just as important, you need someone to listen and hear what you are saying. My goal is to be that person for you, and help you navigate everyday life, including any struggles or difficulties you are facing. As the mom of two teenagers, I know that life is busy, and that often times, we do not make time for our own needs or our relationships. Whether that relationship be with your spouse or partner, children, or any other relationship you are trying to improve or heal from, I would like the privilege to help and hear you.

Life is messy. That’s the motto I adopted a few years ago to remind myself that there is no such thing as perfect and rarely does everything go according to plan. My journey has taken me through a variety of messes…divorce, single parenting, job changes, remarriage and the blending of families, just to name a few. Although this isn’t the path that I planned to take, I am thankful for each step because of the healing and growth that accompanied it and ultimately led me to pursue my master’s degree in family and
marriage
therapy.

More specifically, the areas of ADHD,
marriage
/couples counseling, and men's issues are my specialty.
I OFFER INPERSON THERAPY SESSION-MASKED AND UNMASKED. While counseling tends to be about serious issues, it is important to me to know my clients on a personal level, not just the struggles they are going through. I like to know how my clients take their coffee, their idiosyncrasies, and which football team makes them yell at the screen on Sunday's. My approach is practical and honest. I value transparency, humor, self-awareness, and genuine exchanges.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
