I use an
integrative
approach using research-based interventions when working with clients. I understand that we are all different and have different needs. I tailor counseling to the unique needs of the client, rather than attempting to force the client into a particular style of counseling.

Our life's work is helping clients achieve a better sense of self and happiness...more recently we've recognized that without good mental health providers finding this balance in life can be more difficult and stressful. As a result, we tend toward and
Integrative
approach and have our clients transform into the people they want to be. We see each client as an individual with many parts to their identity. Utilizing a holistic and systemic approach we help clients reintegrate the parts of themselves to function better as individuals and within their systems. Our focus tends toward a systems-based approach using behavior methods.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Technique, acceptance and trauma informed but because no two people are the same I make sure what I am doing fits each clients specific needs and style, I'm
integrative
in my theory and style.
Life is hard but harder when we deny that fact. We get "stuck", unmotivated, we give up. My practice is "real", it's comfortable and down to earth. It is a safe place free from judgement or criticism. You will be heard and validated and in that there will be growth and change You will find freedom from whatever is keeping you from being the person you want to be, from whatever is keeping you from experiencing the fullness of life. It's all about you. Let's get you out of your head and into living. If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” -Maya Angelo

So how could one approach be a fit for everyone? Every client has unique needs and goals, my aim is to provide an
integrative
approach, drawing on many different modalities tailored to each person’s strengths, life choices, and vision.
I believe that we all have an inherent ability to heal deeply, oftentimes we just need a safe environment to begin to open and step on this healing journey. When we realize that disoriented parts of ourselves cause imbalance and problems, the awareness itself leads the way to becoming whole and come home to ourselves. As we move through the story of life in time and space, we carry the past to the present and the present to the future. Our bodies – physical and subtle hold so much of our stories beneath the surface. My goal, using somatic-based approaches, is to help you reattune to our existential wisdom and bring lasting change.

Whether you’re seeking therapy due to dissatisfaction regarding a specific issue in your life or just trying to find peace in the midst of world events, I strive to help clients develop self-compassion, resilience, healing and greater happiness. While suffering is a normal part of being human, therapy provides a safe space to explore our response to internal and external stresses and develop a greater sense of peace, meaning, and fulfillment. In addition to genuine concern and empathy, clients have mentioned my 'particular blend of pragmatism and humor' as helpful in establishing a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

Life isn't always in our control (and no, I'm not a fan of that either). In therapy, we can learn to manage the things within our control - so that we are better equipped to contend with life’s inevitable ups and downs. Whether you're experiencing a big transition, stress from everyday life, a personal loss, or chronic issues - we can work together to make things easier. I have experience working with individuals with a variety of concerns & mental/physical health issues. I strive to make everyone - of any body shape/size, sexuality, gender, race, religion, or disability - comfortable in the therapy room (and in their own skins).

I OFFER INPERSON THERAPY SESSION-MASKED AND UNMASKED. While counseling tends to be about serious issues, it is important to me to know my clients on a personal level, not just the struggles they are going through. I like to know how my clients take their coffee, their idiosyncrasies, and which football team makes them yell at the screen on Sunday's. My approach is practical and honest. I value transparency, humor, self-awareness, and genuine exchanges.

Integrative Therapists
What is integrative therapy?
Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.
How does integrative therapy work?
Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behavior patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.
How long does integrative therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
How effective is integrative therapy?
There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
