Life can be wonderful and amazing, and also difficult and scary, at any age. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults who want to work through issues related to attachment, trauma, anxiety, depression, and general life stressors. If your childhood "stuff" is getting in the way of life now, let's work through it. We all need a safe space to explore our tough issues--a space where we feel heard, validated, and valued by another person. I am eager to work with you to identify your goals, find the steps we can take to reach them, and implement ways to improve your overall functioning.

I am an independent contractor working with Neuro Harmony, LLC. My ideal client is someone who is ready to begin a journey of self-exploration and face life on life's terms. That being said, anyone who comes to me for counseling is someone I would like to work with. I like helping people reclaim their self-esteem and power in life, overcome anxiety and depression, develop coping skills to deal with life, heal from trauma and overcome old behavior patterns that are self-defeating and self-sabotaging.

In our culture today eating disorders, sexual and porn addiction are constantly a topic in the media, conversations and of general interest to most individuals. Many times these issues, as well as others, are kept as secrets and only come to light when a crisis occurs with loved ones or in relationships. Clients want a therapist that has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of these difficulties and can lead them and/or family members into a better understanding, recovery, and healing.

I am an independent contractor working with Neuro Harmony, LLC. I most enjoy working with folks struggling with trauma, ADD, BPD, NDE's, and who consider themselves "quirky" or "misfits." Often they are simply seeking validation - reassurance that they are not actually "crazy" - and have the curiosity, sense of humor and resilience needed to undertake existential adventures. Like most of us, what they are basically seeking is contentment and peace of mind.

Life is hard sometimes. Maybe you’re dealing with a difficult relationship or maybe you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or past hurts. Maybe you feel isolated and like no one will understand what is going on inside you. Possibly you have thoughts, feelings or behaviors that you don’t want but have no idea how to change. I want you to know you are not alone. Providing a safe place where you feel accepted, heard and understood is one of my top priorities. Working together, we can better understand the reasons for the things you struggle with and empower you to handle them in a healthy way.

Whether you are seeking help for yourself or a loved one, the process can be a daunting task. It can cause stress, anxiousness, or shame; something that I take very seriously. The first step in the therapeutic journey is to ensure a good fit between myself and potential clients. Once that is established, we will choose the modality and treatment practices that best fit your needs, readiness, and goals. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and will work hard to help you reach your therapeutic goals.

I am here to help you rewrite your story into something that is totally worth seeing what happens next.

Feeling disconnected, confused and lost can find its ways of disrupting some of the most important roles in our lives. Our relationships at home and work can begin to feel like they are failing. A multitude of personal and professional circumstances have given me a front row seat to these experiences. Trauma, grief, anxiety, anger, depression and broken relationships. Each can take us farther away from how we want to operate in life. Like a body of waters shoreline, the waters come back to connect. Finding the first step in that connection is hard. I would love to help you start repairing those connections and healing within.

How can I find a therapist in Coles County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
