Hi, I’m Keri. I am a graduate student at University of Illinois Chicago, Graduate School of Social Work, completing my fieldwork placement at Family Horizons PLLC under the supervision of both an LCSW and LCPC. For the last 25 years I dedicated my career as a public interest attorney: a zealous advocate for the underserved. I was the former legal director of a non profit organization that provided free legal services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I have walked with victims through their darkest of traumas as they transformed into survivors. I remained by their side until they found the light..

My areas of specialization are working with individuals/couples/relationships who are in the LGBTQ+ community who have experienced violence, such as sexual violence, childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, family system-based violence, spiritual abuse, and community-based violence. I work with many different relationship structures from cisgender heterosexual monogamous couples and folx with more expansive relationship structures. My areas of specialization in working with relationship clients are high-conflict relationships, sexual dysfunction/dysregulation, infidelity, trust, safety, and stability.

Because I believe growth and healing happens within the therapeutic relationship, I work towards fostering a safe space built upon trust and authenticity. I use an integrative, person-centered, framework to understand you in the context of your unique experience. Together, we will work toward understanding your thoughts and emotions, explore what might be contributing to problematic behaviors, and develop coping skills based on your strengths and support systems.

I believe that therapy should provide the space and support needed to cultivate a life one can find both meaning and happiness in. It is my aim to foster a warm and down to earth environment in which clients can explore, challenge, heal, and nurture their authentic selves.

I help people who feel stuck and unhappy. Maybe you feel depressed or anxious; maybe you are lonely; maybe you feel uncertain about relationships or work. As a queer, Filipino-American, I have special interest and experience working with BIPOC, First-Generation Americans, and LGBTQIA+ living with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship distress, or difficult life transitions. It takes great strength and vulnerability to ask for help and to let someone in on our journey when we’re not sure they’ll understand us. I value the importance of the relationship between therapist and client. Your experiences deserve to be honored with care, empathy, and understanding and YOU deserve to feel heard, safe, and accepted.

My therapeutic approach is to fosters a space where the past, present, and future intersect in a way that healing, empowerment, and clear direction can flourish. Courtney West Blaskovich is a compassionate and dedicated licensed clinical psychologist serving the community of Chicago. Dr. West attended Northwestern University, where she received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University. Dr. West's psychotherapy and psychological testing experience is vast and impressive. She provides individual psychotherapy to adults and adolescents, as well as, performs psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for adults, adolescents, and children. Her approach is broadly integrative, with psychodynamic and cognitive techniques.

I offer a collaborative therapy based upon respect, empathic understanding and attention to the diversity of human experience. I am very confident in our potential to grow, change and thrive. My clients decide whether they prefer brief or long-term therapy and they determine the frequency of sessions. All meetings are 50 minutes and occur within the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday (Central time in Chicago). All sessions are conducted remotely through telehealth.

Most of my clients' challenges stem from childhood trauma and negative pattern of thought, which can lead to depression, anxiety and other trauma based symptoms. I ensure a safe-space for my clients, where we work together to prioritize their mental health so they can feel empowered in their life. I create a trusting and non-judgmental space where clients can share their unique struggles and change any maladaptive thoughts that might be holding them back.
