Clinical Supervision and Licensed Supervisors Therapists in Chicago, IL
We all have been shaped by our past experiences but sometimes we don’t know how to move forward. We don’t want to be “stuck in the past,” but we also know we can’t “avoid” our history. I have extensive experience in helping people process their lived experiences, understand how their relationships with themselves and others affects who they are, and approach anxiety, trauma, grief and loss in a manner that gives space for healing.

Therapy can provide a space for healing, clarity, and growth. The relationship between therapist and client has been found to be the most important ingredient in that process. I approach my work with flexibility, compassion, and a deep respect for self-determination. I believe you are the expert in your experience.
I help people with a range of concerns such as anxiety, trauma, identity, life transitions, grief/loss, sex and relationship issues. Currently, I am a second year psychoanalytic candidate at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis. I eagerly welcome referrals from those interested in a psychoanalytic approach to therapy.

I use a collaborative model, where sessions feel like two people having a conversation in my living room, versus a stereotypical doctor/patient interaction. I don't view your issues as coming from an abnormal psychopathology, but instead as a reaction to living in a stressful, complex, and contradictory world. I seek to understand your issues in the context of your unique experience rather than viewing you as having something wrong or being broken. My focus is on what you need from me....I take my lead from you.

Finally, I offer clinical supervision for both new and experienced therapists.
Sharing your thoughts and feelings with a stranger can seem awkward and bizarre. My goal early on in therapy is to make the experience feel as comfortable as possible by creating a space without judgement and aiming to understand you as a whole person, rather than simply a set of symptoms or a diagnosis. I believe that we all have the capacity to overcome life's many obstacles and live closer to our fullest potential. Although therapy is a very serious thing, I use humor whenever possible so it doesn't feel like you're talking to a robot.

We may all come to a moment in our lives where we question ourselves. We question if our thoughts are accurate, if our feelings align with the moment, and if our behaviors are appropriate. Because we may become consumed with these questions and have trouble finding the answers, I am here to help. My name is Adriana Jones, and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I am here to provide guidance with whatever it is that you are struggling with - distressing thoughts, intense emotions, unwanted behaviors, etc. We can process our troubles, learn skills, and begin to understand how to deal with it all.

Every person has a right to peace, joy, and rest. It's difficult to experience because...life. Marginalization and discrimination actively keep us from the fullness of life we deserve. Financial stress, burnout, and relationship conflicts compound and overwhelm. The "tools" to manage burn out or stress aren't enough and leave us feeling hopeless. There are ways to heal, slow down, and create joy. I am a queer therapist working with Practical Audacity, a Group Practice where the providers are Queer Identified/ Aligned and Trauma-Informed Professionals. My mission is to help people find Pleasure, Joy, and Fulfillment in their lives.

Relationship issues can hijack your life. Dysfunctional romantic and family relationships, demanding bosses, inappropriate coworkers, weird friends, or complicated roommates can all be the kinds of relationships that isolate us; affect our sleep, appetites, and focus; and stir up BIG feelings. Breaking up, even if it's the right thing to do, can turn our lives upside down while we feel pressure on us to “just move on already,” when we are grieving. Sometimes we are having a hard time grieving loved ones who have died. Difficult relationships can also cause collateral damage to your relationship with yourself.

I use what I have learned in my training and supervision to engage in developmentally-appropriate treatment, whether it be playing with miniatures in the sand tray, discussing strategies to combat anxiety, or collaborating on parenting strategies during parent coaching.
I believe that play is vital to healing in children, and therefore use play to build trust, regulate emotions, and explore thoughts and feelings that might not otherwise surface verbally. I use a strengths-based approach in working with families to promote secure attachments, foster healthy relationships, and promote mutual enjoyment. I have worked extensively with children with attachment-related concerns, including those in families built through foster care and adoption.

I have extensive experience providing therapy and supervision to diverse folks and struggles.
As a licensed clinical professional counselor with over a decade of experience providing therapy and leadership in clinical settings, I have seen first-hand that the therapy experience is as diverse as the human experience. The exploration, acceptance, and integration of all parts of ourselves is difficult and a long process for those that are ready to pursue it. The payoff is the comfort that comes with knowing that your decisions and life are your own, not the work of lingering ghosts and dynamics we cannot yet see.

I believe that the most important part of a therapy is building a relationship that feels aligned and supportive. I have a specialty working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, OCD, trauma, and those in recovery from substances, eating disorders, and perfectionism.
I also have training to work with those who are athletes (active or inactive) on sport specific issues and specialize in life after formal athletics and athlete trauma and am a part of the USOPC Mental Health Registry.
I also focus on systems of oppression that impact mental health and bring that into session.
