I also have a strong interest in childhood sleep disturbances and enjoy working with parents of infants, toddlers and preschoolers to address sleep problems.
As a parent and as a therapist for young children, I wholeheartedly understand the various difficulties of raising children, as well as the great joys of parenthood. I view therapy with young children as a means to discover underlying issues that could be impacting a child's current emotional or behavioral presentation and working with the parents and child as a team in addressing those issues. I have a warm, inviting and causal style of interacting with families that helps them feel less anxiety about participating in the therapeutic process.

Hi there! Thanks for taking a peek at my profile. I enjoy working with all ages from adolescence to teens to adults. I've really narrowed down my craft in therapy to focus on anxiety, OCD through ERP, insomnia/ sleep issues, ADHD, grief, and other interpersonal issues. When clients come to work with me in therapy we use a collaborative approach to increase rapport. As we build trust together I really hone in on honesty, transparency, and authenticity. The best way engage in therapy is by showing up as you are so I can meet you where you're at nonjudgmentally because harsh self criticism blocks us from self compassion.

If you are looking for help getting your family back to sleep, or if you are looking to support your child who is experiencing anxiety or behavior difficulties, feel free to reach out to discuss further.
Sleep is essential to our physical and mental health. Despite the importance of sleep, many youth experience sleep problems such as difficulty falling a sleep or staying a sleep. Others may experience anxiety around bedtime or during the night. Using a telehealth platform, I work with families whose children and teens are experiencing sleep issues. I also work with youth who are experiencing anxiety and those exhibiting disruptive behaviors.

Relationship issues can hijack your life. Dysfunctional romantic and family relationships, demanding bosses, inappropriate coworkers, weird friends, or complicated roommates can all be the kinds of relationships that isolate us; affect our sleep, appetites, and focus; and stir up BIG feelings. Breaking up, even if it's the right thing to do, can turn our lives upside down while we feel pressure on us to “just move on already,” when we are grieving. Sometimes we are having a hard time grieving loved ones who have died. Difficult relationships can also cause collateral damage to your relationship with yourself.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
