I used to think that “success” was based on results. I focused on hard metrics to see if I was doing well. I always dreamed of owning a luxury brand purse and thought that if I could buy one, I’ve made it. But those purses are thousands of dollars and when I saw other people have one I felt inferior. Why are they ahead and I’m not? When I didn’t live up to these measures of success, I felt like a failure and started thinking that I was an imposter. Overtime, I learned how to succeed in my own way. I specialize in helping people find their own success by replacing negative self-talk with inner strength.

I am a therapist who works with adults who are looking to make sense out of the mentally draining clutter and confusion building up in your thoughts and mind. My goal is to help you find balance in your thought-life through an increase of self-awareness and initiate practical steps towards the life you want to see. I believe therapy works best when there can be collaboration between the therapist and client to create an environment where you can be honest about your needs and desires, heal from your experiences, and explore your feelings without guilt or pressure to perform or be accepted.

My purpose is to do work to create change that is sustainable. A change that has space for complexity, reparation, and relating through difference. I have a plan, an offering, and a vision that I want to share with others to improve their quality of life. I want to help those that struggle with and question whether what they are doing matters. As a psychotherapist, the goal is for my clients to tap into their own power to create a positive change for themselves, while also helping to create a world that praises the uniqueness of each person and where humility and compassion are a given.

I find myself most aligned with my calling when I am able to create spaces of healing alongside individuals from all walks of life. I assist in defining who clients aspire to be rather than what is expected of them. Together we will explore ways to increase self esteem , self respect, and self worth. I tailor my therapeutic approach to the individual needs of each client. I provide a structure to guide individuals to access self love. Through this process we will work to unpack each client's unique narrative; In order to then reauthor their understanding of who they are.

My goal as your therapist is to provide a space where your thoughts, feelings, and ideas can be formed and expressed through supportive dialogue. Whether you are experiencing anxiety or depression, going through a difficult transition, processing a challenging relationship, or struggling to cope with trauma or loss, I can help you find meaning in your experiences and make changes at your pace. People often seek therapy when they experience a loss of power and choice in some aspect of their lives. Empowerment and conscious choice-making are primary themes throughout my work with clients.

The road to good mental health can be rife with obstacles consisting of navigating social systems, relationships and uncertainties. Years ago, I studied elements of society by riding an entire train route for a school assignment. While traveling through diverse city landscapes and observing fellow travelers, I observed how human behavior changed with time and settings. This experience inspired me to reflect on my own identities and how I interact and engage with the world around me. This observation also helped me define my career path as a supportive guide for others, as the journey to self-discovery should not be an isolated one.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
