I believe our earliest relationships shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world. My work is grounded in an attachment-based perspective, exploring how past experiences influence self-perception, relationships, and social roles. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe to explore their stories, gain insight, and foster healing connections that support growth and change.

If your child or teen is struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or behavioral challenges, therapy can help them build the skills they need to feel more confident and capable. I was trained at Harvard Medical School’s McLean Hospital and use evidence-based treatments to support children and teens with OCD, eating disorders, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I also provide parent coaching to help parents build effective parenting strategies. In addition to my work with children and teens, I support women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and fertility challenges.

My work is rooted in the fact that each of us already holds the capacity for healing, growth, and meaningful change. Sometimes, life experiences—stress, trauma, loss, or transitions—can make that harder to access. My role is to help you reconnect with those inner strengths. Your True Self can be uncovered using therapy combined with ancient healing wisdom. Oftentimes, clients talk to a therapist for years. When they enter my office, I always ask what tools they have learned. Sadly, few have them. I listen, but I also teach skills that you can use every day to achieve and maintain balance. Believe me, I have been in your shoes.

Life is a work in progress, and progress isn't always a linear path. It's inevitable to have hurdles along the way, and we sometimes need support to better cope with these hurdles. I'm a firm believer in You being the most important person in Your life. You matter most, you know yourself best, and are the star of your life story. I want to be able to offer an empathetic, nonjudgmental, and safe space for you to process your thoughts and feelings, adding a bit of humor along the way. I want to be along side with you, to help you see your own strength, and work collaboratively with you to help cope with the daily hurdles of life.

In the often-painful experience of symptoms, something speaks through the body that is hard to put into words. Dreams, slips of the tongue, and everyday accidents can point to the experience of something working in us that we do not know. In listening to you, I pay close attention to the unconscious which appears in these and other coded signs in our bodies, our speech, and our dreams, but only you can tell me about what these signs mean to you and how they relate to your history and experience.

**How many cookies are too many at once? Am I a bad parent, or have a bad kid? Am I too much for people? Not enough? Why don’t other people have these problems? I can’t deal with this anymore. Why aren’t I better yet? Why do people say I need a therapist? I don’t want someone telling me how to live. I’ve done/been through things no one can ever know.** Whether within ourselves, or from peer/romantic/family relationships, we may experience increasingly uncomfortable thoughts/feelings/actions. And, whether sometimes or constant, "what's wrong with me" and "how/when will it be better" may become the most uncomfortable thoughts to hold.

Oppositional Defiance (ODD) Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for oppositional defiant disorder?
The treatment of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) will involve multiple approaches designed to help both the youngster and their parents, sometimes including medication. A therapist will help a child learn ways to regulate their emotions, curb their impulsiveness, and counteract anger, defiance, and disruption, while showing parents ways to bring these lessons into their home. A technique designed for children with conditions like ODD, known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), may also be used. CPS addresses a child’s concerns and rewards appropriate responses while discouraging harsh punishment or criticism.

How does treatment for oppositional defiant disorder work?
Treatment for ODD addresses the issues underlying a child’s defiance and disruption, the emotional regulation and impulse-control skills they lack, and the way adults respond to them. ODD therapy is based on the idea that children with the disorder understand the difference between right and wrong, that they want to behave well, and that, with help, they can. By responding to the child with empathy instead of harsh criticism, ignoring nonviolent behaviors, and rewarding positive actions, a therapist, and the other adults in a child’s life, can help children improve their behavior.

How long does therapy for oppositional defiant disorder take?
Therapy for oppositional defiant disorder is not a short-term undertaking. Depending on the severity of a child’s symptoms, their age, the presence of other conditions like ADHD, anxiety or a mood disorder, and their family dynamic, it can take months before improvement is noted. The cooperation of parents and teachers is crucial, because the skills learned in therapy must be practiced in real-world situations, with all their potential triggers.

Does oppositional defiant disorder go away?
ODD can remit following treatment. ODD is often diagnosed in nursery school, and early intervention is essential for a positive prognosis. In two-thirds of children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, symptoms resolve within three years.
