I accept the following Illinois Medicaid plans: Blue Cross Community Health, Molina, Meridian, and Aetna Better Health.
I aim to provide a non-judgemental holding space fueled by curiosity for your experiences. We are in a particularly interesting time where community and support is needed more than ever to help us navigate the world. Therapy is one piece of the puzzle to more sustainable wellness overall. In therapy we are allowed space to explore the meaning we’ve made from past experiences, societal expectations, and world views. I’ve worked in residential facilities for young families and community mental health with ages throughout the lifespan.

I am in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and County Care Medicaid.
We turn to therapy when life feels overwhelming, and when despite our best efforts, we find ourselves stuck facing the same unwanted patterns, uncomfortable emotional experiences and self-defeating narratives about ourselves and our relationships. A willingness to face these daunting inner conflicts shows bravery, determination and on a deeper level, a desire to take care of ourselves.

I've seen, heard and personally experienced the difficulty of finding a therapist when you hold marginalized identities. It's an honor for me to be able to provide a unique space for folks like us! I believe that understanding how our culture, gender, society, family, etc. inform our identities allows people to ditch the concepts or social expectations that don’t fit and pursue the ones that feel truly authentic. Let's show up as we are and get some solid work done!

My ideal client is excited to collaborate with me and is hungry to address issues they have. They enjoy the idea of working with someone who is hungry to improve their practice and who truly wants to understand the clients they work with. A full understanding of what might be going on is not required, as I enjoy the process of getting to the meat of an issue with a client together. I believe this creates greater change in a person as you are working through it with a team.

Carrying difficult emotions and moving through experiences where you have not felt heard can be exhausting. Maybe you’re navigating a major life change, working through stress, anxiety, or the weight of past experiences that still linger. You may be carrying emotions quietly, unsure where to place them, or questioning whether your needs truly matter. In therapy, you’ll have space to process what you’re feeling, explore what’s important to you, and begin to move forward in a way that feels authentic and empowering. My goal is to help you feel grounded, supported, and more connected to yourself as you navigate these challenges.

Are you struggling to stay grounded in the present? It can be easy to catch ourselves overwhelmed with moments of discomfort from the past or find ourselves worried about what the future may bring. Sometimes it can feel impossible to take notice of the world around us when we are so consumed by emotions, memories, or distractions that take us away from the “here and now”. While the though of change may bring up worries of added work or pressure, learning how to identify when we are inundated with “there-and-then” thoughts can help bring us back to our present self.

You may know what it feels like to live “in-between”—between cultures, identities, values, or even different versions of yourself. That in-between space can feel confusing and isolating, but it can also be where strength and resilience are found. What you want most is a place where you can be fully yourself and begin to make sense of it all.

I enjoy working with marginalized populations, especially immigrants, BIPOC, queer, and trans folks. My approach is relational and systemic. This means that I believe the relationship I have with you is central for change. I also aim to take into account the familial, cultural, or societal systems that impact your day-to-day experiences. I see individuals, couples, and families who struggle with life transitions, grief, trauma, anxiety, infidelity, and identity exploration.

Healing doesn’t happen by pretending everything’s fine , it happens when you have a space to be real. I offer therapy that feels human, not clinical. Together, we’ll make sense of the hard stuff, strengthen what’s already inside you, and move toward the life you want at a pace that feels right for you

I accept the following Medicaid managed care plans: Blue Cross Community, Meridian, Molina, and Aetna Better Health.
Folks enter into therapy to examine the internal and external barriers that keep them from cultivating the kind of life they want to lead. Working with a therapist can help you not only recognize the way these barriers impact your life, but help you break through them by utilizing many of the skills and strengths you already possess. Together, we’ll also work to build bridges leading to new skills and strengths, guiding you to the kind of life you truly want to live. My main focus is on creating a safe, supportive and trusting environment where clients can share their story and know that it will be received with positive regard.

Along the journey of life, some challenges and suffering are inevitable and there often are not always clear or easy answers. We want our lives to have value, meaning and purpose. Knowing these things for ourselves can be a tremendously liberating and empowering experience that gives us the hope, courage, and tenacity we need to face life's challenges. However, the process of discovering or defining these "truths" can be confusing, frustrating or even scary. We all require support and solidarity from trusted comrades during our journey. Knowing when to stop and ask for help along the way does not make us weak, it makes us strong!

There are times when we find ourselves in a place in life when it’s difficult to figure out a better way forward or change the behaviors and patterns that don’t serve us anymore. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling lost or stuck in our relationships, careers and daily lives. Sometimes depression, anxiety, past experiences, grief or life challenges get the best of us. Therapy can be a space to find a lighter path through the maze of life, to find a way to heal and liberate from challenging emotions, moods and behavior patterns.

Many people seek therapy because something in their life isn't working, or because challenging emotions or past experiences are holding them back in some way. I help clients overcome their past, understand themselves, become mindfully present, and gain the confidence to make the choices that lead them where they want to go. I have specialized training and experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence, complex trauma and PTSD, and those living with chronic illness, as well as LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and non-traditional relationship structures such as ENM and Polyamory.

Many of my clients feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or major life changes. They may struggle with self-doubt, relationship challenges, grief, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Some appear to have everything together on the outside but feel exhausted internally. They want a safe, supportive space to understand themselves more deeply, develop healthier coping strategies, and feel more confident navigating life. Ultimately, they want relief from emotional distress and a greater sense of clarity, balance, and self-trust.

Medicaid Therapists
Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
