Using a combination of insight, accountability, and courageous action, you can reduce your anxiety and discover new love for life too.
You're in your 30's, 40's, or 50's and you're not living or feeling what you thought you'd be feeling in this midlife era (" life's second trimester"). Life feels like a weekly grind, possibly in your job or raising a family or even in having fun, which can begin to feel empty if there's nothing new in sight. Had you intended this to be your life? Did you know it was going to feel this way? It's not necessarily that you don't value these things, but they don't ignite the magic of possibility or creativity anymore. You wonder if there is more to life than this, and if there's a way to discover or return to that source of electricity.

That being said, I also know that the most difficult things in life also tend to be the most rewarding.
I am a firm believer that making the decision to address your issues takes a great deal of courage and bravery. Many of us come from circumstances or environments that encourage us to push through pain by burying it, outworking it, or avoiding it. While these coping skills help us to survive, they don't necessarily encourage us to thrive. As a therapist with psychodynamic training and extensive life coaching experience, it is important to me that our sessions focus on identifying where core issues are coming from, encourage collaborative problem solving, as well as create space for intentional goal setting.

I am ready to share my experience and big heart to guide and support you to a more awakened life.
Sometimes it is time to just stop. Stop believing that voice in your head that is so demanding, so critical, so unkind. Stop running, stop fighting, stop avoiding, stop numbing. Sometimes it is time to start. Start waking up, start feeling more alive, start coming home, start loving yourself and others more deeply than ever before. Becoming more present in this constantly beeping and flickering culture of ours is the major personal challenge of the 21st century. Feelings of joy and contentment take place now, not in the future or the past. Experiencing your feelings fully is the key to opening the door to a more satisfying life.

I really enjoy seeing clients develop a more compassionate way of life, that enables them to live more fully present with their own experience.
Anxiety, again, don’t you ever take a break? Of course you don’t. Before work, at work, after work. Intense anxiety is hard. I get it, I’ve been there. It’s difficult to feel like you’re constantly pushing through each day, just trying to survive. Making matters worse, there’s no energy left to actually find a better way to live. If you're honest, sometimes It’s hard to believe that a path out of survival mode exists at all. Facing a challenge like anxiety alone is overwhelming.

Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis are opportunities for children and adults to work through the challenges of anxiety and depression, as well as traumas such as loss or abuse, and the defeating patterns of human interaction that result in problems in interpersonal relationships. Both modes of treatment provide opportunities for children and adults to experience improvement in their abilities to consolidate their talents and skills and to work more effectively toward their life goals. Thetis Cromie earned a doctorate from the Divinity School of the University of Chicago and holds master's degrees from the Divinity School and the School of Social Service.

Together, we’ll work through the layers of your story, honoring your journey while focusing on a future where you feel empowered, whole, and in control of how you navigate life.
Healing is an empowering journey—it’s about reclaiming your power and harnessing it to become the highest version of yourself. For me, this process is not about rejecting past experiences but about learning to be in control of how trauma manifests in your life. My goal is to help clients transcend what no longer serves them, moving beyond survival to a place of growth, resilience, and self-mastery.

Through in-depth psychodynamic coaching, we can begin to challenge these patterns in hopes of providing relief and creating a new way of being with yourself and others.
I believe that our life and cultural experiences, especially our earliest ones, are fundamental in shaping the way we view ourselves and others. It is essential to understand my client's cultural identity (i.e., race, gender, gender identity, sexuality, class) and how it has shaped their development. Often negative life experiences can create problematic ways of coping and a skewed perception of who we are in the world. This can lead to a variety of issues related to anxiety, depression, shame, rejection, stress, relationship issues, identity development, grief/loss, and sexual intimacy.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
