I am an expert with helping couples and individuals navigate and heal from infidelity betrayal and addiction.
Out of control sexual behaviors has pushed your relationship to the brink. You’re questioning if you or your relationship can survive.  The anxiety and stress is overwhelming. It’s hard to talk to people about your struggles and even harder to admit you have a problem. You may be in shock or embarrassed and wish that you what is happening was just a bad dream. By understanding the very things that threaten to sabotage your relationship, we can start to make sense of the path to move forward.

In our work together, we'll focus on reducing anxiety, navigating infidelity, and improving and deepening communication.
Hello, I’m Sonya, a therapist who believes healing doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. I bring an open mind and genuine curiosity to every session, because your story deserves to be heard without judgment. While we’ll dig deep into the challenges you’re facing, I also use humor to remind you that growth can be lighter. My approach is all about helping you discover your own resilience and power, even when it feels out of reach while giving you the tools that create the changes you want in your life. Together, we’ll build a path forward that feels authentic, balanced, and empowering. Warmest regards, Sonya

They may be navigating betrayal, grief, identity questions, or a major life transition.
I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, major life transitions, and significant ruptures. All people have THAT moment. The big one, where we question if we are with the right person. We find ourselves loving someone, but falling into a pattern that we can't find our way out of. Communication, betrayals, falling out of sync, the fights that lead nowhere, someone shutting down, lack of emotional or physical intimacy, or not seeing eye to eye on important issues are all reasons people can benefit from an intensive look into their relationship. You want your person to be "your" person again. To love openly with affection, but also with the ability to resolve conflicts is what I wish for each couple I work with.

I work primarily with intimate relationships (couples, marriages, CNM relationships) and with adolescents and young adults who may be struggling with or looking to explore issues around transitions, sex and sexuality, LGBTQIA+ identity, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience working with fellow therapists in both individual and relational contexts. I enjoy helping people to think of themselves as a system living within larger systems that may be serving them or working against them. I work collaboratively with each person I meet because I think it is vital that therapy be tailored to what is best for you.

I have expertise providing couple therapy, with common concerns including communication challenges, feeling disconnected, relationship transitions (marriage, children), uncertainty committing to the relationship, and infidelity.
It is common for people to feel stuck in their lives and experience hardship. Clients often have a hunch that they are avoiding painful feelings, which leads to challenges in relationships and day-to-day coping. While reaching out for help can be daunting, clients often describe the therapy process to be an empowering way to gain direction in their lives and experience significant relief. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville. I provide warm, yet active therapy, so clients can get the most out of the therapy experience and live a better life.

It is okay to feel chaotic or stuck in oneself, relationships, or family systems. Therapy with me is collaborative; nurturing a space that feels brave, nonjudgmental, and warm for each of you. My clinical belief is that in therapy, we may go through emotional challenges, which may come with pain and sorrow, alongside realization and compassion. To experience the healing we seek, we want to make rooms for emotions, thoughts, and experiences that are uncomfortable and hurtful. I know it takes a lot of courage to do so, and I would love to go on this journey with you.

I work with queer couples and committed partners navigating high-conflict dynamics, emotional disconnection, attachment wounds, betrayal, and intimacy challenges.
Are you and your partner feeling stuck in conflict, struggling with communication issues, or trying to rebuild trust after a rupture? Couples therapy and marriage counseling can offer a path forward when disconnection, resentment, or emotional distance take over. You may find yourselves having the same argument on repeat, walking on eggshells, or feeling more like roommates than partners. I specialize exclusively in couples therapy, helping committed partners and married couples move from reactive cycles and painful misunderstandings toward clarity, renewed intimacy, emotional safety, and lasting reconnection.

You might find yourself in a season of change or uncertainty-navigating a life transition, sitting with emotions that feel hard to name, or noticing patterns you don’t fully understand. Maybe you’re asking questions like: Why do I react this way? Why do relationships feel difficult? Why do I feel stuck? If you're curious about your “why,” therapy can be a space to explore it. Together, we can make sense of your thoughts, behaviors, and past experiences—not just to understand where you’ve been, but to help you use that insight to move forward with more clarity, connection, and intention.

You’ve been holding it together for everyone else—high-functioning on the outside, but quietly unraveling on the inside. You’re always showing up, always pushing through, but lately it’s been harder to find yourself in the process. Maybe it’s anxiety, burnout, grief, or the weight of being the strong one. What you want is space—space to exhale, to be seen, to heal. At Cultivate Your Essence, we offer that space: a soul-rooted sanctuary where you can unpack what’s heavy, reconnect with who you are, and begin your healing journey—on your terms, with softness, strength & real support.

Welcome to my practice. I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I take a holistic, collaborative approach to helping clients heal by using a combination of psychotherapy and meditative practices to help clients move toward a sense of peace and balance in their lives. For many, this means that we will work together to heal from past traumas, overcome symptoms of depression and anxiety, learn to be more self-accepting, cultivate more fulfilling relationships, and find deeper meaning in life.
