I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Gottman Method (for couples), and motivational interviewing, among other skill sets.
Entering therapy is about developing a collaborative relationship between client and therapist. With that in mind, I make every effort to engage clients by first getting to know them and their needs; for change to occur for clients, they need to believe their therapist is trustworthy, sincere, and compassionate. I am experienced in supporting those navigating identity (gender, race, nationality, etc.), LGBTQIA+-related issues, fetish/kink/leather, polyamory/consensual non-monogamy, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, ADHD, phase-of-life issues, emotion dysregulation, and relationship issues.

While working with couples, I mostly implement the Gottman Method and help couples move from gridlock to dialogue, uncover the roots of their perpetual issues, and improve their communication.
I work with adults and couples who are experiencing relationship insecurity and emotional instability, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, life transitions, or trauma-related symptoms. My approach is based on the needs and strengths of each client, applying various modalities. I provide genuine compassion and insight to facilitate clients’ healing and to uncover their subconscious parts (blind spots) that often cause maladaptive behaviors and repetitive thought patterns. Clients will establish healthy behaviors and relationships and will regulate their emotions at ease and lead authentic lives aligned with their values and needs.

Every person deserves to be valued for who they are and where they are in life. Life challenges can lead us to feel disconnected from ourselves. There can be great value in reclaiming our entire selves, with all we have been through and currently face, while stepping into the unknown. Being truly witnessed can help us reconcile our realities, regain hope, and remember our gifts. I wish to honor your life by offering a warm, accepting haven for you to exist, unpack, discover, heal, and co-create your life in light of who you are and the unique opportunities and challenges you experience. You deserve to feel at home with yourself.

My preferred theoretical orientations include cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, rational-emotive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and the Gottman method .
Life can be challenging and very difficult to navigate, whether it's concerning a career, school, an illness, relationships, etc., and often times, these life challenges are in co-occurrence with one another. Likewise, we tend to feel as though we are alone in facing life struggles, and I am here to help you understand that you are not alone. My goal is to validate you and your life experiences while guiding you in a way to effectively take on life challenges. Through validation, collaboratively, we can also recognize how your thought and behavioral patterns impact how you emotionally react to difficult life experiences.

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Gottman Method and to help identify thought patterns that are a source of struggles.
If you struggle with anxiety or depression you may have found that the day to day can feel overwhelming. You may have noticed that your sleep is being impacted, patience with others is lessening, staying focused or organized is becoming harder, or you may generally feel tired or restless. Are your thoughts taking over or do you do everything to avoid your thoughts? Maybe you are in a relationship and find communication difficult with arguments that lead into the early morning hours or saying things to hurt one another? Are you reaching out because what you have tried on your own is not providing the change you are seeking?

EFT, SE, IFS, Gottman Method , CBT, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction that will help you achieve the quality of life you want.
I pride myself on meeting my clients where they are to walk alongside them as they heal & create their best life. We all at times go through periods when processing, whether towards change or healing, becomes necessary. I hope to make that process a bit more comfortable, so that you are not alone, and also to help you move through your journey with integrity and intention. Many of my clients report feeling it to be easier to approach difficult topics due to us having a friendly relationship as a foundation. I believe that foundation is in part created due to our efforts in seeing and validating their own internal strengths.

Gottman Method Therapists

How does the Gottman method work?

One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?

Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?

Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
