Hello. All of us experience challenges and hardships in our lives. These challenges could make you feel disconnected from people around you, sad, overwhelmed, or alone. One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story! I believe that everyone should feel seen, heard, and affirmed! It is incredibly natural to feel overwhelmed in our present world. Yet, life is way too short to surrender to unhealthy relationships, self-esteem issues, rough life transitions, trauma, grief, anger, depression, or anxiety… to name a few. I strive to help you achieve whatever solutions and life change you are looking for while finding purpose in all your life areas and experiencing yourself in new ways. I am dedicated to keeping

I maintain a general practice where I see a wide diversity of men and women for issues including anxiety, depression,
relationship
problems, and identity.
Life can be challenging. I believe psychotherapy with a therapist who is a good match can help one more successfully navigate those challenges. I work collaboratively with my clients. I aim to create a nonjudgmental and supportive environment to explore difficult issues together -- to better understand what one is currently facing, to help manage those difficulties, and to ultimately make life more rewarding and meaningful.

People tell you to “just get over it.” As if you didn’t wish that a thousand times a day. You can white knuckle it for a few days, but the nightmares always return, and it all comes crashing down. Lately, your
spouse
has been looking at you differently. You wonder how much longer they’ll stick around. You’re desperate to get away from the images in your head, but the memories come flooding back at any moment. The flashes of memory set your hands shaking and make the room spin. You try to block them out by isolating, drinking, and distracting yourself, but you know that’s only a band-aid. You need the memories to stop.

In psychotherapy, I am a supportive listener who helps clients to uncover blind spots where difficulties lurk. I teach healthy coping strategies, and I coach people to try out new behaviors in their daily lives. I further help individuals, families, and
couples
to shore up inner resources to face life's challenges effectively and with a stronger sense of self-worth. I also guide individuals toward a better understanding of their feelings and emotional states. Finally, my approach focuses on breaking problematic interpersonal patterns and striving to be more autonomous and self-governing in one's day-to-day life.

I specialize in helping clients work through
relationship
difficulties, overall "unhappiness" in life, and anxiety and depression issues.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not taking NEW referrals at this time. I provide individual therapy in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. I act as a guide and challenge you to explore what and why things may not be "working" in your life, as well as provide support and feedback to you about the patterns in your relationships. Finding a therapist who is a "good fit" for you can be difficult, so call me and we can discuss what you are looking for further.

I see myself as a recovery guide whether from a dating
relationship
or a marriage.
Are you stuck but trying to move forward after a break-up or divorce? Were you traumatized by deceit or even a double life and wondering if you can ever trust again? Or are you simply terrified seeing so many red flags and disingenuous individuals in the dating pool? No matter what your age or life stage, when a
relationship
ends whether by choice or by the actions of another, you may be caught off guard and thinking clearly can be difficult. You may experience self-doubt, insecurity, anxiety, and fear. It can be helpful to work together to regain confidence (in yourself and others).

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
